Trigger locks on airsoft guns?
I was browsing through the gallery, and noticed guys putting trigger locks on their airsoft guns. I kinda chuckled as i think that's ridiculous considering they only fire 6mm plastic pellets. What do you think?

some guys are real steel owners and treat their guns like they do their RS, a locked gun case is good enough for me :)

haha very true thanks for the response

Read through here where a couple folks had a Laptop or TV shotup by a jackass friend or themselves then trigger locks or secure storage sounds pretty good.
And as for when you're out in the public eye. http://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna...ized-on-bridge |

EDIT: just noting this before people start making assumptions |
I don't keep batteries in my guns, or store them loaded. So if by chance someone did pull the trigger, nothing will happen.
There's nothing wrong with putting trigger locks on them. Personally I think it's uneccessary, but hey prudence is prudence. |
I do it to my airsoft since its part of proper storage with the regulation if I recall. And 2nd I at my current setting the airsoft is pretty deadly. (.25g at 490fps chronoed)

Hmm, interesting. But I do know some idiots in my town, that have broken into someone's house and done things they went to court for. Worst of all they were in my grade, which would be Grade 9 back then. One of them I know had an airsoft gun, so I wouldn't doubt he would have taken an unguarded $700 full metal AEG. There's alot of screwed up teens my age, luckily I live out of town.

While trigger locks are not specifically stated in C-68 (Firearms Act) re. storage/transportation of prohibited devices, right or wrong our airsoft "toys" happen to be regarded as such by some in law enforcement, and C-68 does mandate reasonable precautions for storage and transport of these things. And should you have to show the gun to the police officer that has pulled you over for whatever reason, at least the lock will help ease his or her mind regarding the very realistic looking gun you have in the back of your car.
To put it simply, trigger locks are a cheap method of complying with C-68 but more importantly, they prevent unauthorized access to the weapon thus reducing the possibility of a negligent discharge. For gas guns like my WA M4, a barrel blocking device and the trigger lock serve both as a safety and as a security measure which costs practically nothing. Not a bad idea from where I sit... 'Fly |
Like some others, I store mine unloaded, battery out and muzzle cap on it in a locked case with trigger locks. I have younger kids it's just common sense in assuring an accident or incident involving MY airsoft gun does not result in a serious injury.
I wouldn't want to have to explain to police or see my name in the newspapers for something preventable, nor do I want to be the idiot who attracted negative attention to the sport. The least of my worries at a time like that would be having my gun seized and destroyed or being charged by the police. :smack: And hopefully it makes it less attractive to a would-be thief! |

Do you think they'd feel more comfortable if it had a trigger lock on it? |
I'd ask them for probable cause to look in my car first off.
To each their own. I keep mine in a locked room with no windows. On my wall. |
