I would like to know if the standard battery pack that come with most guns is enough for a game? Do I need an extra one, or do I need to buy one of the higher mAH?

Any of you built a multicell battery to put in a backpack and run a wire to the gun?

This new hobby of mine will keep me busy for a while it seems :D

There are two basic battery sizes, Large and Mini. they are identified by their voltage, 9.6V and 8.4 V respectively. Most guns with full stocks come with a NiCd Large battery that goes in the stock, which is more than enough for a full day of gaming, if not more. Guns that fit batteries in the grips are often NiMH mini batteries, which might last you an entire day, but I often bring both just incase.

Just know if you buy a battery with a higher mAH, it also increases your ROF. It might just be easier to store a larger battery in your gun. Lots of weird shaped batteries are on the market to fit in weird places (eg, large type nunchuck-style batteries fit into collapsing m4 stocks)

Wiring a backpack battery is redundant, as the pack would offer wayyy too much power, and would limit your mobility as you would be teathered to your gun. That being said, ive heard of people building larger batteries for their guns, but it never works as the internals are not made to work at the torque or speed without modification.

Well depending on the quality of the battery that initially came with your AEG you maybe fine, however it depends on how heavy you are on the trigger and how much juice your motor has to draw to complete a cycle, and by that I mean a gun with a stronger spring will need more power. In regards to MAH, the more MAH a battery has the longer is can run.

It would be a prudent course of action to purchase a secondary battery.

Is a website recommended by many members of this community, they have packs for airsoft and can also create custom packs to match your requirements.

No, I personally not and cannot really see the benefit of doing so either.

Some folks run slings with a battery pouch but I don't think running something as fragile as a wire to your body would work out well.

You might want to look at some of the classic airsoft that run on external air if you don't mind having something tied onto yourself.

what gun / stock size do you have?

on average I'd say the stock battery is enough for most people to get a game day in. as for larger.. the most common for bigger batteries that don't fit in the gun itself are using a fake PEQ box (the laser and flashlight thing) mounted on a front rail, or a pouch on the rifle sling.

ofcourse having a spare is always a good thing, and cell batteries in all configs, MAH ratings, voltages etc etc are pretty cheap now adays

I do not have a gun yet, I am gathering info first. I just want to be sure I won't be running out of juice at my first game, that would be kinda boring sitting in the wood with a non-working weapon, unless you tell me I can bring my knifes? :wink:

While we are at it, are the Crapadian Tire BBs good enough or do I need to buy better stuff to shoot people?

buy bb bastard bb's ... WAY better than ct bb's and not too expensive

if the wire breaking is a concern (which it should be) .. check out 10-12gauge multi strand braided wire with silicone outter casing. you can also find it Coiled like a telephone cord, very similar to what the guys who run an external battery for their AEP's down in the holster use (one of my next planned mods..

ANYTHING other then the Crappy tire or walmart BB's . your gun will thank you! as will your sensibilities, any of the BB's the ASC vendors sell are a billion times better for your accuracy, distance, sanity, and your gun ;)

About the weigth of the BB what difference does it make?

yes it does make a HUGE difference. more wheigh = slower travel but greater flight stability and range, so depending on your gun's velocity you would like to use the heavier bb's. personally i use .28 outside and .25 cqb, in my sniper rifle its .30-.36 and i keep 2 bags of .20 for chronying
