Cansoft to metal body..

Looking at transferring the guts from my G&G GR16 cansoft gun to the Marine trade mark metal body as seen in this post http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=69423.

Can anyone give me any info on issues with this as far as the guts fitting properly are concerned.

Also another quick question, probably answered somewhere here but I'll ask anyway, r the front ends for AEGs a problem getting through the border. I'm looking at converting my GR16 SD into something else.

Internals should be nearly identical across all V2 boxes. And yes you can get front ends in no problem.

Be aware though, that DBoys bodies aren't the greatest and might have fitment issues in some places.

I wouldnt go for a Dboys body....

Front ends are no problem getting across the border. The metal body isn't a bad choice. Dboys metal bodies are hit and miss in terms of fit. Mine fits quite well and I haven't had to sand anything yet. They're also not as well cast and trademarked but your options are limited in Canada and despite their flaws they are solid.

correct me if I'm wrong but I thought recently there was a new line of dboys bodies that actually fit

Thanks for the replies so far...

I'm going to give the metal body a try, if I need to sand some spots I'm ok with that. I just really want to get my internals into a metal body and do some face lifting on the gun overall which means a whole new front end setup. Eventually I want to upgrade the internals as well, but that's the next project. For now it shoots fine and I want to adjust the look.

Any opinions on MODIFY internals???

The last DBOYs metal body I owned had a magwell fitment problem, and it was too wide.. Which totally sucked.. where you cannot fix that. Well you can with a strip of velcrow, but the magazine changes are very difficult.

Modify makes GREAT internals. I'd trust them over Deep Fire, Element etc. any day.

I just made this switch two days ago. I had to take a file to the body in the magwell asnd I had to widen the hole in the back of the reciever so the buffer tube could screw on. But besides that it wasn't too hard. It looks great and I saved money. Go for it.

No, don't go for it. You are missing a big thing on DBOYS.

There are actually 5 versions of DBOYS body. It's somewhere on ASC that explains about the 3 versions. DBOYS just made the 4th version, not sure how it's like, and another is 5th version which has the locking bolt.

It's really hard to tell from the 4 versions.

Ya I know i got the 4th version. Except for the engrish tades its nice looking.
