Marui M4 basic platforms

It seems that TM like to upgrade their M4s once in a while, such as fixing that rediculous barrel wobble by switching to that 1 piece design, however, I've noticed that the S-System has been out for about 4 years now, has there been any changes in that? And how much does a new one run for these days?
Also, I'm assuming everything that's suppose to be metal in a stock TM mechbox, including the casing itself, is zinc alloy?

ILLusion March 10th, 2009 21:31

What is your definition of a "case"?

That isn't a known term.

yuhaoyang March 10th, 2009 21:32

Mechbox XD. Oops, bad habit.

ILLusion March 10th, 2009 21:49

Yup, you got that. It's all zinc aluminum.

Well... except the screws/bolts. And lock washers. :D

yuhaoyang March 10th, 2009 21:55

I very much hope it is atleast ZA25. If such a thing exists  does anyone know if there has ever been an update for the S-System by TM since its release? Or has it always had an EG1000 and a 1 piece aluminum outer barrel?

yuhaoyang March 11th, 2009 02:00

Oh comon... Someone has gotta know XD. Choosing between this or the TM M14 is hard when I'm ignoring apperances and personal preference, only focusing on the performance.

Styrak March 11th, 2009 02:12

I believe the S-System has not changed since it first came out.

Darklen March 11th, 2009 02:25

The TM S-system has the same mechbox all the other TM M4's have. I've worked on several, there is no difference. I have not seen any difference in any of the TM M4 series other than the "New Type" and now the Sopmod. The "new Type" has the one peice barrel and reinforced pin retainers in the upper, the Sopmod is a whole new animal.

yuhaoyang March 11th, 2009 02:30

So that means the S-System outer barrel is held by the extended rails? -.-
man...

Sorry for taking up so much time, how much of this stuff is wrong then lol...
I would go check it up, but all the other reviews I have found are the "out of the box" ones.
"Cylinder - Brass with a nickel plating. The nickel seems impregnated
with a dry lubrication, possibly Boron Nitride EN plate. Its very
slick compared to the stock brass cylinder. It also resists tarnish
and oxidation. Color is metallic grayish and in photos can look black.
"
"Cylinder Head - Brass tube for the nozzle is of a smaller inner
diameter than older V.2 gearboxes.

"
"Tappet Plate - Tappet Plate's wing profile has been changed slightly

Bevel Gear - New style 4 catch Bevel Gear. More catches on the bevel
gear increases semi auto reaction time and lowers the gearbox sound
signature. It also prevents double feeding.

Nozzle - Reported by Japanese site to be different but I dont have a
stock TM M4 nozzle to compare. Not 100% sure of changes.

Lubrication - Cylinder grease was changed from the clear yellowish
type to a white low viscosity grease.
"

All of these are correct, except the nozzle (I can't confirm that)

Yu, I live in town and have a Fully dissassembled TM M4S you can take a look at it. The upper Spine of the handguard supports the barrel and the lower handguard is held in place by the upper spine. It is a pretty standard M4 setup post 2004.

The gun is rock solid even with the plastic body.
