Tachyon XC Action/ Helmet Cam

Got it yesterday, so far Im satisfied with the package.

about the cam:
- plastic feels not durable but what u can do is put home made armor from whatever around it for airsoft games.
-mounts are extremely useful, especially the helmt mount.
-comes with very neat massive sheets of sticker velcro, this way u can ensure the hlmet mount does not move around on ur helmet.
-easily mounts on gun, u can use velcro or a normal strap using one of the horizontal mounts provided.
-mounts are durable and do not expect to break soon.

PERFORMANCE
- before I test it out....get a 8-32G sd cards, this way u can record for 4+ hours on superior mode using lithium e2 batteris.
- the cover is waterproof and has a seal around it so no rain will come in, this thing is obviously rain proof.
-ensure that u make ur own lens protector either from clear plastic or a metal net used in some masks and scope caps.

-Il do test videos at home today and post on youtube linking to this review.
Ill keep everyon posted on this...should be fun

Not only is it rain proof, it's actually waterproof rated for I believe 25 feet.

Once I receive mine I will be pumping out a small batch of lens protectors for these things. Estimated cost will be around $10.60 CDN Shipped.

Care to give me a measurement of the area that needs to be protected? I can start right now if you can get me accurate measurements :)

Anyone else that wants a lens protector that can stop a .22LR bullet speak up now.. this is gonna be a very limited thing.

The actual area that needs to be protected is less than 1cm in diameter.

The actual LENS of the camera is only 2mm in diameter... MAX.

There is already a lens protector installed in front of it, although it might actually be a UV filter.

You can build the protectors up to 28mm in diameter, and it can mount to the external barrel that houses the optics, but you'd also need to figure out a way to mount it...

I've got a special type of aluminum super adhesive tape that has worked really well for everything so far. Hrrm if it's 28 mm the protectors will be a little bit more expensive, but I still will be able to make a small run of them.

ILLusion February 3rd, 2009 23:08

What's special about this tape? It's for attaching to aluminum?

The body of this device isn't aluminum, it's plastic.

BORDENSNIPER February 3rd, 2009 23:48

testing with shit batteries so far gave me good shots, I will not upload these, il upload when i use lithum e2 batteries.

point is, if u get this cam, u will genrally know were u want to be using it, on gun, or on helmet....if u know were to use it, u will know were to pad it.

personally, im mainly gonna use it on helmet, so im stiking on the velcro stickers on the helmet and on the cam mount so that the mount attaches to the helmet via velcro, and for added tightnesss u put the supplied strap (piece of shit) or a custom goggle strap onto the mount.

updates to come!...this is a definate keeper for any arisofter....cant wait...recording full game...then editing and showing in game footage....mmmmOp Broadsword...

Dexst February 3rd, 2009 23:56

picking mine up tomorrow, cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

upload them to the tube^

P.S i dont think a battery change will do much for video quaility...i may be wrong...

It's an adhesive tape that's made from aluminum, it's commonly used in air-duct work.. It's a super strong take that doesn't move or shift, I've used it to attach countless protectors to scopes, RDS, digital cameras and other larger video cameras.

The only down side to it is that it's got a reflective surface (this is normally covered up by electrical tape)

The tape works REALLY REALLY well (It holds the protector on a scope with a point blank shot of an 800 FPS .22 pellet gun) and the tape doesn't mark up the item that you apply it to.
