orange tip

how do you remove the orange plastic tip on the end of the barrel?

Kuro_Neko December 18th, 2008 22:08

That depends on what gun it is and how it's on there. If the end of the barrel is actually painted then you have to either paint it yourself or get a new barrel. If it's just on the flashhider then you can simply get a new flashhider. What make and model of gun are you trying to remove the orange tip from?

it's a we 1911 and the tip is plastic. looks like it might be glued to inside of barrel.

or, you know, you could use paint thinner... :/

worked on my gun. I'm just sayin'

germandirt December 19th, 2008 00:49

it's not painted orange. there's actually an orange plastic peice afixed somehow to the barrel.

That only works if the barrel is metal, if it's plastic you have a fair chance of melting the plastic.

Hey Germandirt. If you want a propane adaptor you must contact airsoft innovations.

Or contact madmax on these boards.

Same boat. Brand new beautiful WE Wilson Combat Elite + fugly-ass plastic orange tip -somehow- stuck on. I'm afraid to damage it... seems like a lot of plier-force would be required, and I'm not certain if twisting or pulling would be preferable. Not even sure whether it's glued, melted or snap-locked.

EDIT 5 mins later: Got it. Multitool FTW! Bend, wiggle and yank. It's a snap-locked plug. Yanking it out left tiny bits of orange residue in the threaded bits, but I think I can clean that with a Q-tip and solvent.

If you have a metal barrel, it is very easy to remove. Simply unscrew a small octagonal screw, then buy a black flashhider or a suppressor. Otherwise, paint it black ...

I've use a metal brush tip on my Dremel. Works good on a G&G. Only downside is that it did polish a bit the flash hider so the mat finish is a bit screwed. But still it's barely noticeable.

Paint is the lazy man best friend ;)

The Saint December 19th, 2008 18:05

Haha, I destroyed two metal brushes on my G&G's flash hider, since it was my first time.

Remember to wear protection when Dremmeling. :D
