Sniper gear : what have you found useful?
Hello everyone,
I recentlypurchased a bolt-action sniper rifle and want to try out sniping in a few games here and there. I wa swondering what gear, piece of equipement, item, etc... you have found very useful as a sniper. I am not refering to the gun, the mags or the ammos. I am talking about pouches, types of camo, vests, chest rigs, etc... I assume that a vest or chest rig is not very useful for a sniper and that waist pouches would be more handy. So, you snipers out there, what gear do you use that you couldn't snipe without? |
I bet a huge fuck off sword is on the top of the list ;)

Not a sniper but I'm assuming that a ghillie is somewhere on top of the list.
I've basically been told that you're there to sneak around and relay info back to HQ so it's probably best to think about concealment over ammo, so maybe a dropleg subload (on the other leg) with a second mag instead of a Vest or a waistbelt. I'm not sure how hardcore you want to go but some camo facepaint might help. |
i am a Designated Marskman, though i have done the stealthing and have gotten behind the opposing team and wiped them out. that being said, if you play primarily in a deciduous forest, Multicam works best IMHO. you can get a guille suite with the same colour scheme as Multicam here. Is is a paintball company, but their concept of the ghille suit is quite innovative i think. the multicam pattern that i am referring to is known there a "Omnipat". Other than that, i good side arm is always good, such as a MP5k, Mk23, D. eagle, or a TM 1911 is a good choice.

Check the gear section. There is a super duper long ass thread about the specifics of sniper gear. Complete with pictures.
The rule is: the less you carry, the better you are. The more you carry, the longer you'll last. So you need to carry only what you need. |

I carry as little as possible, trying to keep everything I do carry off of the belly and legs (as it is sometimes a real pain in the arse to get to in a pinch, and I find that items in these locations get snagged on stuff really easily during bounds). Consider what you want to carry and rework or customize your BDU rig with some extra pockets in easy to access locations (as an example mod a small pocket just below your right shoulder to carry your spare mag(s). This is an ideal place for them as it minimizes the amount of movement needed to access them when needed). Also consider using a shoulder holster for a side arm (again, the location minimizes the nessicary movement required to draw your side arm with out reaching all over the place). As stated by someone else, a hydration bladder is always a big plus...especially during the mil sim games....along with some jerky and snacks. Best of luck; SHA DO |
get pouches that have velcro silencer
that stuff makes alot of noise... |
Where doy ou get velcro silencer? I am quite curious to see how it works...

For those pouches that just close with velcro, you can cover most of the velcro and leave just enought for the flap to "lock". That way, when you want to pull the flap open, it make much less noise. If you do it slowly and close to the ground, the noise won't travel far enough to ruin your camoflage.
