Phantom/Pantac CIRAS CT or CB
The Pantac or Phantom CIRAS (the one from 1337tactical), they have it in coyote tan. Would this be the same as the coyote brown CIRAS, say, the huang one, or is coyote tan a complete colour of its own.
edit: also, what would be the difference between the RAV and the CIRAS? I know marines used the CIRAS, did any units ever use the RAV? |
Two different colours...coyote tan is lighter than Coyote Brown..
CB is what marines use for example.. |
Color cmparison
Right is BHI Coyote Tan, left is USMC issued vest and pouches http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/1...0001wz5.th.jpghttp://img383.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif |
Ah sweet, epicly helpful. Thank you both very much. I knew the Marines used coyote brown, as I am looking for a CB CIRAS, just wasn't sure if these 2 colours were the same. Thanks again!

Marines use CB (Coyote Brown), other companies have their versions of coyote brown/tan, as far as I know pantac tried to copy the CB found on issue marine gear but it's not the exact same colour. You won't find the same colour even from other gear manufacturers claiming CB gear unless you buy the actual Eagle CB. Even when purchasing Eagle gear their colours will vary from manufacturing runs very slightly.

Mm, good to know. Based upon other things I was hearing, I decided it is essentially the same thing. Went with the Pantac CT Ciras. Thanks for your help guys.

USMC Coyote Brown is technically known as Coyote Brown 498 (commonly seen on Eagle CB products).
USSOCOM Coyote Brown is Coyote Brown 499, and is slightly different (common on AITES CB products) SDS has some CB which is pretty close to CB498/499, while other products are closer to tan or other weird brown-ish colors. BHI Coyote Tan, old Phantom Coyote Tan/Coyote Brown, a lot of repro "Coyote Tan" (ebay), Maxpedition Khaki... is basically all Khaki and within a few shades of each other. I've seen newer PANTAC stuff which was really close to CB498. Color variations (and even throwing in the occasional woodland pouch) does seem to help general shape breakup, so I wouldn't go too far out of my way to get all perfectly matching components. |
