Has anyone built a functional BB catcher?

Pics would be great.

Up until now I've used a combination of cardboard boxes and various blankets and foam, etc. in my finished basement. I just looked behind the stack and noticed a slight problem....either my drywall developed a bad case of acne, or the BBs are getting through my contraption. Time to get out the putty or a giant poster.

I use cardboard boxes with grocery bags stuffed inside.
Used to have those cool targets that use AA batteries with netting behind. Ended up blasting the targets to broken plastic and a ripped netting.

I had one for awhile for a BB gun. Made it out of plywood and an old towel. You can find plans for them online or buy one from Canadian Tire made for pellet guns....

Currently, I shoot into a 3'x2' sheet of insulation styrofoam. Some BB's have made it through but then I have a brick wall behind it.

Double up on the foam and hang the blanket behind it.

All I did was buy some scrap material at fabric land. 75cents / meter deal stuff haha. Hang a layer or two behind your target. Shooting at it with a 450fps rifle from 10feet doesn't do anything as long as it has enough room to safely stop the bb(I left 1/4 of a foot of space between the wall and the blanket) Also leave it free hanging, don't make it have tension :)

I figured a plywood box, with a piece of wood at a 45 degree angle firing the BBs downward into a basin.

Cardboard box, BUT, hang a piece of thick cloth 6" before the back of the box. Think Canvasy material... or even a really heavyweight shirt, or someshit.

The shirt will absorb all the impact, and bb will be stopped instantly... Has worked for me and 340fps rifle..

You can also make a BB trap, as the bbs will travel straight down.

EDIT: you can hang the material with a butterfly clip punched throw the top of the box, and kept in place with a stopper (I.E; pen through the "wings").

I'm shooting stock TM SR-16 and this trap seems to work fine for me. I basically took a 10 ream box and bought two interlocking foam floor pads from dollarama (you gotta love that place). One I placed at an angle, just enough so that the top touches the lid (which you can see off to the side) and the other one I cut in half and placed at the rear of the box. I then lined box with old newspapers, paper, etc. in the off chance of a ricochet. This seems to stop the bbs fine, haven't had any damaged walls using it.

Another thing you can use to line a box is carpeting. I made a target trap for my pellet gun years ago from medium pile carpet (try to get something that relatively thick and dense) and it stopped the pellets from penetrating, and these were pointed pellets too btw.

Yeah, the key seems to be getting the BB to come to a stop as quick as possible without causing damage or ricochets. I guess I'll head out to the garage and throw something together.

There's some good ideas found on google. Like an 8x8 electrical box filled with duct seal or even plastercine. But, with the shear volume of bbs fired, it would fill up too soon.

Dammit, why didn't I think of that...and I've got some laying around too.

Carpetting, plywood, 45 degree angles, box-like structure.........here I come.

I've got enough room in my backyard to literally host a milsim if I so choose! I usually just set random targets at distances you normally wouldnt try shooting someone at. Gives me a more of a challenge although I waste allot of ammo doing it!
