Kokanee, and other brave Reg Force
 

So...

Josh (aka Kokanee) will soon be shipping out to Afghanistan for his tour there. We speak semi regularly on different topics and he's spent more than his fair share of time modding this disaster we all call home. He's sort of the first person who I know fairly well that's leaving for the conflict.

But he's not the only one. There are dozens of people on this board that serve the Canadian Forces with pride and distinction, many of which will, are, or have served our commitment to Afghanistan.

It doesn't really matter what your political opinion is of the conflict. What matters is that people you know and respect are heading off to someplace dangerous, and part of their reason for heading there is because they know about the life you live and want to preserve the way you live it. That in itself is a noble cause.

I don't know why we've never had a thread like this, but I think it's important...

To all of you who will find yourself in that dangerous place, be careful. And know that your friends, family, and even us crazed nutjobs on ASC are behind you, hoping for your safe return.

I am proud of him, and I give him all of my respects and also to others who are serving in Afghanistan. I hope he and others are safe, hoping that he and his family and others stay strong. Stay safe, your families and friends are hoping you get back in the same way.

I am lucky enough to get to see him this weekend.

He knows what he's getting into, and leaving that beautiful lady of his shows his fortitude.

I'll wish him good luck with a sad and very jealous heart.

Josh has been a good friend for a few years now, comes up with amazing game scenarios (largely role playing, best part is having "civilians" as part of the scenario, that might or might not be armed), and I wish him well and the best of luck to come back home safe. And hope he enjoys his time there.

I am going to miss him and his tasty treats (RPG Frags ROCK). Until his safe return, he will always be in my heart and mind....

In the meantime, I will help watch out for his sweetie,...

I don't know you personally Kokanee, but I wanted to say good luck, stay frosty and powder your feet.

Most importantly - COME BACK SAFE.

Keep your head down. Show them no mercy for none will be given to you. Come back with battle scars which you are proud of. STAY SAFE.

On the bright side, when Koke plays with the Afghans, they'll be sure to call their hits...

Then again, kinda hard to call hit when you got a .223 round lodged in your epiglottis... perhaps wound rag rule would work better...

As long as they don't respawn.
