KSC MK23 2005 HK HW

Long story short. When i rack the slide back and insert a new mag (with BB's but no propane) the slide does not shoot forward anymore, even though it previously did. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike

You mean without hitting the slide release?

Is that really a problem?

Donster May 25th, 2008 16:44

when you insert a new mag, should the slide not slide forward on its own?

Donster May 25th, 2008 16:53

ok problem seemed to remedy itself. Has to do with the single and double action i think.

EDIT: 1000th post

No, pistols don't usually do that.

Although my friend's TM Hicapa did that, and a WE Hicapa I had did that if you shoved in the mags hard enough.

But for other guns? No, not normally.

It shouldn't do that. If you slap it in hard enough, the force will probably kick off the slide lock which snaps the slide forward, that is all that is happening when you used to do it.

+1 if you insert the mag with enough force it will rack the slide forward. Inserting a mag should not cause your slide to move back into the ready position.

ironically enough, this is your MK23. i bought it off kos who never fired it once. but i see what you are saying. when rack it in hard enough, the slide flies forward. so when i insert a mag, how should i put the slide forward then? manually?

2 Options when the slide is locked back:
Put in the mag, hit the slide release lever.
Put in the mag, pull back firmly on the slide and allow it to spring forward - the magazine being inserted allows the slide lock lever to disengage when the slide isn't exerting force on it

kk good to know. thanks for the info. btw, why did you end up selling this beautiful gun and how did she perform? its ok if your answers are negative. i just want to know for myself.

Naglfar May 25th, 2008 19:31

Sold it because I wanted another AEG, I found it to be a great sidearm to my (at the time) M4 for when I ran out of ammo or got a gun hit. As a primary that one game, I wasn't so hot with it, but I loved the huge ammo capacity, it just felt sturdy in my hands and was damn accurate at range.

Overall it was just a bit too big and heavy, especially now considering my current armament, I kept accidentally hitting the mag release when it was holstered and I wanted to get a metal slide but for $200 cost I figured it would be more worthwhile to wait and get a more cheaply upgradable GBB (Hicapa on the way).

good to know. and i know what you mean about that metal slide. i just bought a Prime one :(
