Stock TM M16a2 cracked receiver

Buddy cracked the receiver bad last night and it won't fire now. Can someone suggest a receiver that would replace the brocken one and would be compatable. I think he would like to keep the carry handle on it if possible.

Is it just the upper receiver? If so, I happen to have a stock TM M16A2 upper receiver I'm not using.

I believe so. Its the part where the carry handle, mag barrel and everything else attaches to.

TrueTGN May 20th, 2008 12:27

The part where the magazine goes in is the lower. The part where the barrel attaches and the carry handle is located is the upper.

Then it is the upper then. Thanks

Crack is right behind the barrel.

I don't really see how a cracked upper receiver could prevent the gun from firing. Does the mechbox actually cycle when you pull the trigger? If the gun cycles and won't shoot, then the breakage of the upper probably affects the alignment of the hopup with the nozzle preventing firing. If the gun doesn't cycle (or at least try to), then you have far more serious internal problems.

Tm plastic receivers show up in the for "Parts and accessories" sale section often enough. Or if you want to take the leap, upgrade to a full metal receiver instead.

Check the barrel, hopup and nozzle for damage.

Armalite receivers almost always crack at the rear tabs, so to have it crack at the front, you may have a more serious problem. Find out from your friend exactly what happened.

Maverick0 is selling me a receiver so that should fix it up. I just called by buddy and he appoxied the receiver together and it fires now that the receiver is straight so a new one will fix him up, thanks guys.

Crunchmeister May 20th, 2008 17:59

So then I take it the gun was 'firing', just not shooting out BBs. A new receiver will fix that right up.

MagnumPeanut May 29th, 2008 11:30

New receiver fixed it good. Used it a bit last night and it shoots good. Awesome gun, I want it, its my buddy's tho.

Glad to hear it's working again :)
