Charging 8-cell+ batteries

Hey there. I have this charger:
http://www.duratrax.com/caraccys/dtxp4005.html

Awesome charger, by the way,

which says it can charge 1-8 cell batteries. My friend has a 9 cell battery (10.8V) and I was wondering if my charger could charge it properly. Now, I've already tried and it DOES charge it. I just don't know if it's doing it properly. Can someone shed some light on this?

It will charge it - it will just never reach maximum capacity.

So it will charge to the right voltage, just not to the max mAh?

ILLusion April 23rd, 2008 16:26

Well... the voltage supplied is a function of how much current there is to allow that much voltage to be pushed through...

Even a "dead" 9.6v pack will read around 9.6v. A fully charged 9.6v could peak or even exceed 12v.

It won't charge.

This charger is made with a built-in voltage monitor and it will return an error about 10 secs after the start of the charge cycle.

Strange, because it didn't.
