glock 23f hammer problem

Hey everyone.

This is quite annoying. I just received my KSC glock 23f today and shot it. I got about 2 or 3 mags worth out on propane and it worked fine. Now suddenly when i go to push the trigger the hammer wont release. Nothing happens. I took the slide off to see what was wrong, i honestly dont know what to look for. The spring that moves in front of the mag is moving back as i pull the trigger, i dont know why the trigger is not releasing. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

*edit* i just manually got it to release and the trigger got stuck in a down position. I pushed the hammer down and it was back to what it was at a few minutes ago.

The selector assembly which engages the hammer assembly is finicky; it either is loose and falls back into safe when being fired, or it doesn't engage the hammer assembly and remove it off safe when switching the selector.

If it's loose, tighten the screw underneath the rear sight.

If that's not the problem, you might need to cock the gun when in semi or full. I find with my 18C that if I rack the slide in safe and then switch to semi or full, it's still stuck on safe. Cocking it when off safe solves that issue.

I took the slide off and looked at the screw and it was tight. I attempted to make the hammer release with the slide off and it wont. Its quite frustrating, especially with a new gun.

Part# 265 needs to be disengaged, as it acts as the safe for the hammer. Push it forward to release the hammer.

i just found that out. When i pull back the trigger that part #265 is stiff. when i push it forward it becomes loose. then if i pull the trigger it still does not release, but i can release the hammer manually. when i push that hammer release part the hammer comes forward about 1/4 of the way, then when i push the trigger it comes forward totally and the trigger becomes stuck in the pushed position. Then i pull the hammer back and start all over again  What is wrong with it?

Basically, when the selector is in semi or full, part#265 always disengages. The hooked end you see at the rear of this part is what the selector assembly catches when the slide moves back into battery, thus releasing the safe on the hammer. That's why you basically must cock the gun when in semi or full, as simply just switching the selector off safe usually doesn't catch onto #265 and release the hammer to make the gun ready to fire.

Ok, so i put the slide on and put it onto semi. I racked the slide and pushed the trigger and nothing happened. Am i just retarded?

Remove your slide and examine part#253, as this is the part that catches onto #265. With the slide off, just flip the selector around and see if this part actually is moving around. It should recess itself into the slide when switched to safe, and should protude out when switched to semi or full.

LaZeDoUt^Jr. January 29th, 2008 20:55

when i switch from safe to semi i see it move up but it doesnt come past the edge. It does not protrude out but it does move towards that direction. It seems like it should still be enough to catch on the part though.

WhatTheWho January 29th, 2008 21:01

I don't really have my 18C on me at the moment, so I can't say how far it should be protruding so it's able to catch part#265.

When you flip the selector, does the copper bar which lies across the selector assembly stay straight?

One other thing you could check is the trigger bar, as it needs to be pressed down so when you pull the trigger, it releases the sear and the hammer fires.

LaZeDoUt^Jr. January 29th, 2008 21:04

it is in the middle on safe. When i switch to semi it stays straight and moves to the right. When i switch to auto it moves to the left.
What exactly is the trigger bar? I know when i pull the trigger i can see the little spring expand which in turn makes the part hit the trigger release part. (i know im making it confusing)

Basically when the slide is on, the trigger bar is actually in a lower position into the hammer assembly which allows the trigger pull to release the sear. If it's not able to lower into the hammer assembly, then it can't really release the sear when you pull the trigger.

I have to be logging off for a bit, so my replies after this post won't be until late in the night.

thats the problem. I dont think its going far enough to release it. This is a brand new gun so i dont see why i am having these problems.

LaZeDoUt^Jr. January 29th, 2008 21:17

also the part where the spring on the trigger bar attaches is not flush to the gun it is hanging to the left. is this proper?

LaZeDoUt^Jr. January 29th, 2008 21:40

the first problem is fixed.
What it was was the little bar above the trigger release button. It seems to be a little loose and slides up which blocks the trigger from fully being pulled back. My question is, what is this part, what does it do, and why is it loose?

Now i have another problem. When i shoot, all the gas discharges. i am pretty sure it is the rocket valve. When i take off the slide and look into the little square hole inside the hopup i see a loose round part that just moves around. Is this a broken rocket valve? If this is so i have to order it from japan. :(
