M15A4 Upgrade issues :(
 

Recently, I've done an upgrade myself. Actually, 2 hours ago.

I had a skilled friend of mine do the upgrade for me, after the many he's done for himself and others.

I decided 290 fps (used the spring and was unsatisfied) wasn't enough on my Classic Army M15a4 carbine.

So I threw in the following parts:

Systema Area 1000:
M120 Spring
Polycarbonate Piston
Polycarbonate Piston Head
Aluminum Cylinder head
-End-

Now, I put it all together with some "minor" issues such as the Anti-reversal latch popping out, trigger popping out, and what not. Simple fixes.

I know for a FACT, the High-torque Classic Army motor + 9.6 2000mAh battery is well enough to pull an M120 and more.

After all is said and done, i plug the (full charged) battery in, put in Semi, nothing.

Put in auto, nothing.. Nothing but a click and heat near the battery connection to gun plug.

!?! WTHELL :(

did you set the timing on your gears? check out mechbox.com and view the v2 gearbox video. It's very important to time your gears properly. also, you may have over shimmed the gears or shimmed them incorrectly.

take her down once more and go over everything make sure it's well lubed.

Re-check your wiring, sounds like you might have it wired in reverse. As well look over your wiring to make sure you haven't grounded one on the sharp metal reciever.

no such thing as gear timing in mech box and most likely you put the two wire that connect to the motor in the grip backwards.

Yeah sounds like a reversed wire issue.. its getting power but the seize is causing the wires to heat up.. try reversing the wiring on the motor and test it again.. only do quick pulls of the trigger and not too many.. DO NOT PULL FOR EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. You will fry your wiring if not the motor..

Theres no such thing as gear timing, the only reason the set the gears in that position is so the tappet plate isnt resting on the the pin thats supposed to pull it back and thus preventing you from closing the mechbox.
There's no timing IN a mechbox that anyone needs to worry about, only on the selector switches of certain guns but thats not inside the mechbox.

Whenever I closed one of my mechboxes and it went "click" without cycling, it was caused by tight shimming. You have to test your shimming by closing the mechbox and screwing it tight when you spin the gears. Also, make sure the sector gear isn't squeezed against the tappet plate once the mechbox is assembled.

Did happen on my ca-25... changed the bushing without reshimming.

Well, I just opened up my grip to see what the motor was doing - and it turns out you all were right. The wiring was crossed!

Y...A..yy... uh

Pulled the trigger, motor turned on and pulled the spring for fraction of a second.. Then stopped.

Opened up my grip once again, and hey! What do you know, a wire was in the way of a gear and got RIPPED Open..

Guess I'll be sending it in for repairs.. :(.. Or just buy a new wire or somethin.
