Best Way to Paint Tiger Stripes

So I am thinking of painting my SIG552 with woodland tigerstripes.

Any thoughts on things or methods I should do before to prep it and any way I should put the colours down.

I plan to use black, green and brown only for this.

Any input would be awesome.

If you go to Crappy Tire and get the Krylon Cammo Paint in the colours you want it has the order the paint should be applied I think it goes
1Tan/Brown
2OD/Green
3Black/UMM Black
that will give you the basic look but there are 4 colours in the full set

Base coat (color you want the stripes to be)

Rip painters tape into long triangles

Apply tape to gun to gun

Spray over tape, wait till it dries, peel off tape.

I did my rifle by ripping painter's tape down the middle so one length of tape = two strips.

Then I stuck the strips on and around my rifle so that the smooth straight edges overlapped. Paint, let dry, remove, repeat if necessary depending on the colors you want.

I find it better if you rip the tape into tapered strips. That is, each strips ends with a point, with the middle being thicker. Gives it that more "tiger stripe" look than ending with solid blocks.

I did this on a couple model tanks back in the day. Works nicely.

And I second the Krylon paint, it's super awesome bacon!

This is good to watch, and just cut your tape for tiger stripes.

Something interesting that Lt_Poncho told me a couple years ago, is to grab a bunch of sticks from outside, like small stick, various sizes and shapes, lie them on the side of your thing to be painted, all parallel to each other, spray your coat, then rearrange the sticks elsewhere and spray again. He showed me a couple pics of his doing just that, and it turned out really good and effective.

That is some shitty spraying... Really uneven.

i usually paint the whole gun the lightest color i will be using first (usually tan). Then I free hand the stripes. I like the look of the stripes that dont have crisp lines separating them like you get when you tape it.
