Optic Zeroing Problem with TM SG552...
 

I have 2 different scope, one a Guarder Tri-rail 3x scope, and another a ZOS 4x scope for my SG552. Both I have problem zeroing. The longest distance I can use in my house is ~20ft of uninterupted sightline, so thats what I was testing with. I can get the elevation adjusted for that range no problem, but for the life of me I can't get the alignment. For some reason the shot always lands about 3 inches to the right from my center of recticle even at that range, and I have ran out of adjustment for alignment. This is consistant with both scopes, leading me to suspect the actual rail maybe out of alignment. As far as I can tell it is a stock TM low mount rail for the SIG, and I don't see any way of adjusting it, I am wondering if anyone else had some experience with something similar. With the RDS without magnification this is not an issue, and I can get the dot pretty dead on center of my shot(not surprising as it has no magnification I guess), but with magnified optic this is the problem. I've ruled out that this being an operator error as the way I set it up it had very little input from me that can upset the gun and the result is pretty consistant....

Thought I'd ask, not that I use those optics at the moment.....

Is your gun shooting to the side, perhaps?

Kinda sounds like the side is where the top should be..

The 2 scope both came with fixed mount....so unless I can rotate the scopes....yeah...they are on right. The first possibility I have not considered, but how can I check?

Le Baron is in your neck of the woods, pick up one of those. You'll actually be able to watch your crosshairs move when using it.

I have a star UMP and JG G36. On both of these guns the barrel is cocked slightly to the left (factory defects not easy to see) I would try the scopes on a different rifle first to see if the problem is there or on the gun.

the front of my TM G3 SG1 did that too before I aligned it. I had to curve a very little the outer barrel to the right so the front is perfectly aligned now.

there was a time i tried to adjust literally the mounts (washers). to give me room for zero-ing.

Tried shimming, and checked the inner barrel for straightness(as well as replaced the barrel actually with a tight bore I got a long time ago.), the problem still persists. Though after looking at how whole gun goes together it seems that the chance for the rail being misaligned seems pretty high, as the front and the rear hardpoint on the mount are built on 2 seperate piece of the gun and it just doesn't seem real secure the whole setup, as the rear is based on the rear sight placement which is entirely dictated by the upper receiver of the gun....anyhow it does not look really sturdy internally, so I am just gonna move away from the magnified optic....

A side thought though, how would an magnifier affect this if I were to use those with aimpoint? With the dot already sighted in the magnifier should not have an effect on it no?

worst case scenario, you have to twist the scope mounts to the left or right.

Hows your hopup rubber? I'd also give your barrel a good cleaning and run some cloth through it to check for a burr or something. Before you spend any cash, Id take apart my hopup assembly and reassemble it.

Something that I've found that helps is to remove the scope entirely and attempt to aim using the rail - you'll quickly find if it's the rail or the actual weapon that's mis-aligned.

Also Chief has a good point - when I first got my L96, it had a 3inch bias from 30ft to the right as well... When I took it all apart, my hop-up was the culprit.
