AGM Thompson vs TM Thompson
 

Hello all
Looking at getting a thompson in the new year, was wondering if anyone knows the difference between the two? Is AGM chinasoft?

Can anyone tell me the price of it on Anderson and Anderson? I dont have an account to compare yet.

Why not get an account? It's about $100 difference.

Yes I believe that AGM is cinasoft. But don't quote me on that. Personally I have owned a TM Thompson for a while now and I love it. If the price difference is negligible i would say go for TM.

I haven't personally owned a TM thompson, though I have handled one on occasion. It was very solid in my hands - similar to the real m1a1, in my opinion. I'm not familiar with AGM, but I'm also pretty sure it's chinasoft. As with anything else in airsoft, I'd suggest going with the tried and tested TM version. The peace of mind that you'll probably never have to monkey around with the insides anytime soon is worth the difference in price.

For the record, AGM is about 420; TM is 590. If you get verified and kick around the classifieds, you can probably snag a tommy gun for less.

IMHO if your are planning on buying to airsoft, what 170 more dollars to get an excellent quality gun over a possibly so so gun?

Doesn't the AGM have full trades?

The AGM is marketed in the US by PALCO Sports. That's enough reason to avoid it.

Okay. If I were to pick one of the two, here's how I'd do it.

1) Look at both, in person. So far I have seen a TM: they are really nice pieces.

2) After seeing both, start looking at details (build, materials, looks, weight, quality of finish, internal parts).

3) Decide if I (or my wallet) can live with the difference and also decide if I can fix/upgrade what I dont like.

Only after that do I ever make an opinion, unless I do a ton of research first. Sometimes I've had no choice but to do research, like when I got my King Arms Dragunov (not as if I could look at many). But so far these few tricks have served me very well.
