Giant Rotary Grenade Launcher

46 inches overall.
Kind of a variation of this:

I'm reminded of the triple barreled weapon many races use on Stargate Atlantis (was big on Sateda)...

... only on 'roids.

Killbucket December 24th, 2007 12:45

Inspired by the big Triple in the Movie "DOOM".
It got overshadowed by The Rock's "V8" BFG.

CDN_Stalker December 24th, 2007 13:07

A laser sight for a weapon whose rounds have to be 'lobbed'? Lol

Give you an A for overall creativity though.

Killbucket December 24th, 2007 13:14

It only LOOKS like a grenade launcher. I still want to know where the BB's will approximately end up. It will get a Sci-Fi looking shroud.

Still needs the linked ammo.

very very nice

There are M-14 guts in this thing? While the outer three barrels are spinning, does the M-14 shoots through that central barrel?

Totally frickin' badass, regardless.

ColtFarmer December 25th, 2007 15:08

you are pretty prolific killbucket, keep it up man. I think I speak for us all when I say "build a MASADA, NOW!"

Killbucket December 25th, 2007 15:55

The M14 sets in the center axle of the three barrels.
The barrels spin on large bushings, and are independently powered/switched. They will work even if the gun battery is dead.
What looks like the de-linker is actually the ammodrive. It holds 20,000 rounds, and will have an ammo-cleaning system, complete with filter element. Paint is drying on these parts.
Also turning the shells for the belt.

Not seen in this photo, but installed, is the forced-air system for the de-linker in the foreground here. My last heat gun contributed its turbine housing and motor. Air will keep the ammo moving inside the storage cylinder (the de-linker body holds over 20,000 rounds), and then exit through a large meshed filter, hopefully carrying any stray dust or pet hair that might cause stoppages. Hidden underneath is an AK hicap that has been shortened and motorized using a JR ST47 servo. Ammo is pushed up through a long spring coil, this seen coming out of the lower front of the de-linker in the last photo below. Then the coil goes under the front of the assembly to the M14 hopup.

I still need to fab up the inner mount for the M14.

Battery packs are housed inside the two 2" tubes that flank the body. One of these can be also used for holding bags of back-up ammo. The longer one can hold two 8-cell RC truck packs or up to 24 similar-sized cells in a custom pack.
