KA M.R.E Fitting issue
Hi,
I am trying to fit my KA M.R.E. front and I am having troubles getting the alignment right. When I screw it on, the rails are just a bit off center, about 1 cm of rotation to one side when fully tight. Is this a spacer issue? If so, where can I buy more spacers? Thanks, Christopher Ing |
If I can recall, there should be two pins that align the RAS and the delta ring before you tighten the ring. Are they there?
|
The issue I had with a KA RAS was the delta ring had a different thread then the body so it wouldn't go on at all, ended up making a delta nut out of the old one already on the gun. Not to mention that when I put the nitro rail on the top it lifted the RAS 1/8 of an inch to high for the thing to tighten on, so I had to do some custom grinding on the spacer ring so it could lift up but still attach to the body. What a pain in the a$$.

Please enlighten us, which body did you tried to install it on?

The pins are there, but they don't align straight when fully tighten.
The delta ring is just off centre enough so that no matter which set of pins I use, the ras is no aligned. |
Perhaps the use of one pin could be more successful, not neccesarily a solution, just a suggestion.

Or no pin?

If you have no pins will the MRE not spin fully and possibly come loose from the main ring? If it can hold with only one though, I dont see why its not worth the try seeing if it will work with out any! Nothing ventured nothing gained, unless you somehow break your front end, then thats not that good.

Anyone know where to buy more spacers or make your own. I think I've narrowed it down to a spacer issue.

mines not a KA its china clone but you have to mess around with the spacers and the the alignment knobs for a good bit. took me like 30 mins...was annoying as hell

Why you want more spacers? Try using less spacers. Unless you got this used and it came missing half the spacers, they're usually shipped with WAY more spacers than you actually need.
Start with NO spacers, and work your way up. Make sure the outer barrel isn't loose, and check the rail spacing on your top rail (the intervals should match up with your receiver's). I've found i need 4-7 spacers on my setups (the RAS free float collars usually about 4-5, 7 was for the KA Troy rail). Try getting your hands on an armorer's wrench, too (unless you're using a plastic receiver). Or if you can't, attach a vert grip to the RAS (on the end closest to the receiver) without the screw-on ring, and use that for torque (fit the RAS into the pins, and twist). Don't overdo it. |
Nice woodlands blanket.

You should have got a bunch of spacers when you bought the MRE, unless you bought just the rail seperately. I bought the whole kit with outer barrel, MRE and flip-up front sight, and it came with about 8 spacers or so.
But like Drake said, start with no spacers and work your way up. |
I used up all the spacers that come with it. I did but it used so it only came with enough spacers to fit the original body. Does anyone have extra spacers they want to mail me? I'll pay the 51 cents ;) .
I think I'm like 2-5 spacers away from getting it right! Do you guys know if real ras systems use spacers? There's a gun shop close by to me. |
