For ICS Owners

What parts are compatible with ICS?

Most specific about Outer barrels, Tightbores, metal bodies.

I have heard from some that only ICS Outer Barrels work?
Supposedly Tightbores cause lower FPS?
THere is no aftermarket Metal Bodies for the ICS?

I am selling my rifles to get an ICS M4.

Buy a free float M4 and M16 lenght RAS units both with folding sights, tightbore,
Systema Magnum motor, Crane stock running 9.6v 3000mah, New Handgrip,
Magpull Trigger Guard, and a totally new uppermechbox and upper reciver
shell and 2nd hopup so I have a 2nd upper set I can just easily swap out in a min or so.

Also if you feel like it.. Post your ICS M4/M16 with pics and Specs on what
you have done as per upgrades and accessories.. I would like to turn this
Thread into an ICS Info Section since there is very little on them.

I dont know who told you that a tight bore causes a decrease in fps but they are full of it. I have a 6.04mm systema in mine and i saw a 15-20 fps increase.

It might of been a bad install on his end or just a shitty barrel. I think it was a deep fire barrel. Since I have seen and used 3-5 of their products and all were shit im staying away from that company.

stay away from madbull tightbores too, They are great until the low friction coating comes off... then they are useless.

I've got a TN 6.04 tightbore in mine and noticed similar results.
On a side note the "bolt" (nozzle on other brands) in the ICS M4's often gets cracked around the rings that hold it to the tappet plate. It also cracks at the tip. Perhaps this is causing some fps loss?

Cushak December 7th, 2007 14:13

On a tight tight bore (~6.01 or something) I've heard of the BB scuffing the inside of the barrel, leaving streaks of plastic, just like a sneaker does when you kick a floor. I'd imagine that caused a decrease in FPS.

So he could have been talking about that. (or I could be wrong - this is just hearsay)

I have a MB 6.03 Black Python in my ICS as well as my TM SR, Havnt had any problems yet, SR has seen alot more use with it, fires fairly straight as well as consistant.. Only problem I have seen non related or possible related is hopup as well as range.

Any idea how many shots or perhaps lack of maintenance would cause these barrels to suck?

I'v had My ICS for almost four years it has a Prometheus 6.03 tightbore(as do my G&P's,CA's)flawless performance and uses ICS's MA-56 upper gearbox(chron'd @ 397fps).It has hardened Systema gears, stock hop-up,ICS turbo 3000 motor.G&P Crane stock and top power metal bushings.UTG grip on the reciver and the ICS S.I.R. system and a Madbull XM203(203 is about a year old!).But this set-up has worked flawless for that many yeas with these parts.Only thing I'v replaced do to ware was the contact switch. It has a M-120 spring as well. There are only certain parts that you can't use.Cut off lever,is one and there is some debate about what parts in the upper section that can & can't be used.Thats why I used ICS's upper package insted of fart'n around with other stuff. But all my lower gear box parts would work in any other Ver.2! Most people that tell me they don't like ICS and that there "Bad" have never used it.They just tell me thats what they heard lol!
I would sell my other M4's before my ICS.Hope it helps you out some,Cheers!

From the 2 barrels i installed in other peoples guns both ended up with chunks of coating coming off after about 3-5 months. I guess it could have been bad maintenance/cleaning, I don't know how they kept their guns but for the same thing to happen twice seems odd to me. maybe these things are like teflon cookware and anything too rough will scratch them. But I have yet to see a MB internal part that doesn't suck. Thats just my opinion

leiwin December 7th, 2007 19:11

I have rebuilt a lot (well over 20) of ics ver 2 boxes and i have used whatever was readily available for interior parts (accept the antireversal latch as it is different)bet ive never seen one break
the rest of the parts are the same or close enuf to work without any ill effect
I would think that if you bud lost velocity by changing to a tight bore he diddnt get the hop up rubber seated correctly on installation
just my 2 cents

Renegade) December 7th, 2007 23:07

I think the tappet plate as well is ICS special.. Bout all

beach_boy December 7th, 2007 23:26

The tappet plate is different, it will not fit TM nozzles, but I switched my ICS tappet with a guarder and have had no problems.

HaZarD SFD December 10th, 2007 08:05

Im more interested in outer barrels that are compatible with the ICS.

beach_boy December 10th, 2007 09:03

G&P have no problems fitting... well their Jungle Series RAS and outer barrel combo don't

my ics has been rediculously reliable. ( m-16 a3 model ) i have dealt this weapon some serious game play and more than its fair share of pure abuse. with a minimum amount of ammo around 2-3,000 rds per game since day one.went about a year and a half until it required a real gun tech to fix an electrical gremlin i had.

couple things i did notice:

-WEAK FRONT D RING. dont use it for a sling mount,,it will break. mine broke while running (ah,hem) "tacticly walking" on the old ferryboat. my $800.00 dollar rifle cartwheel across the steel deck and slid to a halt. no damage, didint even eject the mag! anyway,,dont trust the fron d ring.

-tappet plate weakness, although im still running the stock one myself.

-the split mech cause some wear over time meaning the two body halves wobble. i fixed this with a king arms bolt in body pins.

-barrel wobble, but remedied this by pulling apart the barrel from where it mounts to the body and using an aluminum pop can i made a shim and put it all back together. ZERO barrel wobble or any flex for a good 18 months now.

-tm motors ( pinion gear only ) are not compatible with ics gearsets. i turned one into a "carrot peeler" in just one game so i know what im talking about.

after 18 months of play, this is what "mustang sally" looks like.

upgrades during the past 18 months include:

-new hop-up sleeve/bucking
-new hop-up chamber
-guarder metal bushings, changed 2 months into ownership
-systema m120 spring shoots 355fps down from 380fps
