M14 mag

What do you recomend for mags? are hi caps worth it? or should i get like 110round ones?

Also what mag pouch do you sudjest... i saw the vest on ucompany.com for M14 which looks cool but id rather have molle pouches for my vest so what do you recomend?

Laike November 14th, 2007 02:18

I just use the m4 pouches iwth my CIRAS, one mag per pouch. Problem solved.

Mags are dependant on how heavy on the trigger you are and how much you enjoy the act of reloading. I'm particularily light on the trigger, so I'm more than happy with low caps. I rarely go through more than 2 or 3 mags in a day. Plus, I hate how hi caps rattle once they empty out a bit...

FireRat November 14th, 2007 19:53

I guess I would say I am not that heavy on the tigger with my M14... but 70 rounds just dissapear let me tell you lol.

And what is a CIRAS?

and any websites to help me out?

Personally, I'm not a fan of highcaps. Highcaps inevitably lead to people hosing a nice 50 round burst. I find 50 round mags are pretty good (G36 standard), 68 (TM standard) is pretty good. It's personal preference really.

FireRat November 14th, 2007 20:45

I have a G36 and I can't stand low caps... I use midcaps umm 150 rounds I think, but that gun is pretty much a bb hose...

With my M14 I am more conservative with the trigger so.. but still 70 rounds is nothing for me lol

This is a CIRAS type

they have m4 mag pouches among other things....

Depends on what type of game your into. Personally I hate anything that is over 30 rds. All my mags are real caps. I'm not a fan of hi caps because you get lazy, and tend to waste more shots on nothing. With real caps you conserve your ammo a lot more and don't tend to be as trigger happy. But if your into just being a bb hose then hi caps are the way to go. I hate winding things too lol.

amano999 November 14th, 2007 20:53

I run mid caps most of the time. That way depending on the type of game I can real cap or load more for a skirmish.

For cheap mags I would buy from ehobby asia. I used to be into the metal mags, but when you want to fill out a vest it cost so much more so switch to the cheap plastic ones.

Plus it sucks to lose a $30 mag in the field compared to s $8 plastic one and sooner or later everyone loses somthing at a game.

Ok the mags sound good... I think midcaps will work not to small to run out but not to big like a highcap.

But now I need pouches to put them in, any sites that have molle pouches? I dont really wana buy a whole new vest.

I might not be following with what has been said but heres my answer to your question.

mags >>> KA mids (the 110 round ones) are good, as long as you emtpy them after the game is over. Otherwise the spring will compress and you may get feeding issues. Also open em up and keep the spring lubed.

vest >>> finding 7.62 pouches was a pain in the arse for me but the vest that did the trick for me was the Phantom (now known as Pantac) Wasatch replica. I got mine...from 204 tactical? 1337tactical.com also has them I believe. they already come with pouches built INTO the vest. I was able to fit 10 - 12 mags in there it was a lil tight but im a fit fella so if you have a bit of a belly might be too tight for yah. Vest comes with a hydration pouch in the back of it and an admin type pouch built into the top of it, its like a pouch where you can toss a map / pad of paper with objectives or something more or less small.

I can see that vest being uncomfertable... I meen it all hangs around ur stomach.

its not, ive been using it for a good while. all vests hang around your stomach anyways O.o

FireRat November 15th, 2007 18:03

Not the ones I wear they are so tight they at my eyeballs!!! XP

lol yes i know they do but the ones I wear are umm flatter? it seems like all the pouches stick out a lot and all right around the stomach. I duno I guess I'd have to wear one myself.

Honestly I still don't wana have to buy a whole new vest. I was thinking and has anyone found a mag pouch that fits like 2 m14 mags and can be used for m16 mags as well? ofcource molle pouches... I did some looking and found some on Dave's Army Surplus website but I am not sure yet.

FireRat November 17th, 2007 04:02

Ok so all the info about the mags helped me out, thanks.

Now the big problem is mag pouches, I have been looking and looking and can't find any good ones. Please I really need help.
