Orange Tips

Just wondering how many people remove or repaint the orange tip of thier gun if it comes with it?

Forever_kaos October 10th, 2007 21:05

From what I understand (when I asked this awile ago) everybody does, orange stands out, gives your spot away etc...

...aside from the obvious fact that it's really stand out in a woodland setting, why wouldn't you remove/paint the orange tip? I have one gun that has the orange tip. It's a $2 pellet gun that I got a A Buck Or Two, and I left the tip orange just because it looks so ghey.

But that aside, when I got a Crossman (Yeah, you heard me!) M4 way back, I painted it black and, from a distance, you'd probably mistake it for something decent.

The only reason I'd leave the tip orange as it is is if I was in The 'States for a game or something. And even then, it be easier to just get a real gun and have a real shootout, or so it would seem these days.

I purchased a springer glock with an orange tip. I painted it over black, then painted the slide a hot neon barbie pink. Its now my favorite gun.

Tokyo do you have any pics of your neon barbie pink glock?

HaloSix4 October 10th, 2007 21:24

no but i did it a while ago on my old gun

No pics on this computer since Im at work but I got the idea from a duracoat gun I saw on a website in the states.

Mine sort of looks like this. Of course the color job on this gun is 1000's of times nicer. My pink is a little bit darker and more neon.

TokyoSeven October 10th, 2007 22:08

See, I'm wondering if you put an orange tip on a real steel gun, what would happen... It would have to be considered illegal as most people would consider it a fake, which it wouldn't be.

In the US:
Wave a gun (real or fake) and you get shot.
Wave a gun with orange tip (real or fake) and you get shot.
Wave your cell/wallet and you get shot.

What is to be learned? Don't be a jackass, keep your hands in the air. Don't reach for anything, if you currently have something LISTEN TO THE COPS and don't wave/point it at someone!

So there is no hole on the tip/hinder where an allen key fits in? Is the gun tip metal or plastic?

also watch out for "reverse threading" on the flash hider.if all else fails, cover the parts you dont want painted with newspaper( or paintball magazine )and some masking tape, and just paint the flash hider with it still mounted on the weapon.

Make and model would be nice if you want help, there is no universal way to remove X piece from Y gun, unless of course you consider a dremel an option.
