Import Question: 40mm 'nades...

Do the 40mm MOSCART / KingArms / Whatever Brand of 'nades fall under the import bans, both from USA, and Japan?

Did a search, multiple attempts at keywords, found nothing. If I missed it, please post link here, and what you searched with, so I'll learn for next time.

Disregard... found this:

Are any of the 40mm shells hokey (unrealistic looking) enough to avoid getting nailed at the border?

Ronan October 10th, 2007 03:28

The link that you provided states that real looking shells = anal search.

I googled the 40mm shells hokey and couldn't find any pictures... Can you provide a pic of the item please?

So unless its a custom officer with a hard on, it should be ok.

Uh I think you just contradicted yourself there. They are NOT ok.

I edited my post to make it clearer.

I think anything with a lot of wholes in the front could be passed off as some kind of engine valve.

Anytime I read MAYBE and MIGHT on any CBSA document, I understand the word NO.
Why? I sure dont feel like gambling my cash on some uninformed official's whim.

(Even when it's not a document, I react the same way).

With the dollar on par, not sure if it's worth it anyway.

*nod* Understood.

It just sucks when the shells are 100$+ up here, and 54.99$ down there...

http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/mags.htm (see bottom)

I'm sure there's even cheaper places somewhere I haven't looked.

(and used on the forums they go for even less... 30-50$)

If you've ever dealt with 40mm shells. And all the ball bearings.
Not to mention getting them back together.

It has been known that CBSA inspectors will usually unscrew the two halves on the shells to "inspect" for explosives. Resulting in lost ball bearings and/or a useless shell. If you ever have shells arrive with loose bearings in the box, you can only imagine this is the reason.

The king arms shells come in a set of three for around $100. (check airsoftparts.ca)
I've found the KA shells seem to dismantle themselves while in storage. When you go back to use them after a while, all you can hear is bearings rolling around inside the shell :/

The KA ones are the only shells I have manged to reset numerous times. But even after a few weeks, they stopped holding a charge.

After buying two CA shells, they fired and reset maybe three times. The CA ones are easier to put back together because they have a special locking technique so no balancing ball bearings required. But I still can't get them to hold a seal, I think the o-rings shrink.

In all honesty 40mm shells seem cool from the front end, but after spending over 200-300 and only having two shells that "slightly" work. And the others are all in pieces.

If your really set on getting them, talk to Jugglez @ airsoftparts.ca
Anyone have any experience with the Madbull shells?

Buds and Suds October 10th, 2007 14:48

So the shells are unreliable? I want to pick up a 203 but if the shells constantly fail.....hmmmm

lykurgus October 10th, 2007 17:25

at airsoftpartscanada you can get 3 60 or 120 round KA shells for 110$,, thats a great deal and they are way better than the CA equivalent,, previously i paid $135 for a single KA 165s,, the new KA sets kick butt and fit all types of launchers... madbull xm203, g&p ris mounted and CAW m79,, not like CA which only seem to fit my G&P.

I don't know about fail but they can be high maintance intensive. A teammate has the CA shells and was replacing the rubber o-ring after almost every use, he has since found a rubber o-ring used in a/c systems for cars that works awesome. He was going on 2 months (playing every weekend) without having to replace that o-ring.

CA shells blow,, im tossing mine out,, buy KA or madbull,, they are really good.

A little off-topic, but speaking of Customs and importing...will they allow one to import TM's "Mini" series? Those Mini MP5s are so God-damned adorable!

(For clarification, I don't mean the "Boys'" series, I mean the "Mini" guns that are about the size of a pistol, yet resemble assault rifles and the like...sorta like cartoon or caricature versions of guns.)

de-mix October 13th, 2007 13:00

I want to say yes in regards to the minis.
