TM AK47 or ICS AK74 or CA SLR105A1

As i begin saving my money slowly (McDonalds doesnt pay alot lol) and university sucks up even more money. I am wondering about my second airsoft rifle purchase for the upcoming season. So far ive decided that i want an AK. Now my three choices are the TMAK47, ICS AK74 black or CA SLR105A1 black. Now each of them has received great reviews online. The only badthing ive heard about ca is that the piston needs to be exchanged. For the TM i need to upgrade the spring. As for ICS i havent heard much from them, but have seen the gun a couple of times and am pretty impressed. So far im leaning a bit more towards the 74 variants due to their metal construction although the 47 is what started it all so am sort of stuck. But which one would you guys suggest me getting mind you i am on a limited budget which means i will be bugging any and every1 once i come up with the money. For limited budget i mean around 500. (Mind you am saving up right now slowly have about 100 bucks to my airsoft name).

Perhaps you should add the G&G AKsto the list. (or VFC, but they're too expensive I suppose).

Anyways, between those 3, Id take the ICS. All the newer ones are preupgraded internally with a bunch of things (google it). Plus, the CA and TM have unrealistic bolt assemblies that cannot be moved back anywhere near as much as a real gun. The ICS one also can be stripped more realistically.

I've owned the ICS, it was solid as hell. Get it, you won't regret it. Yes, that rhymes.

I own two TM AK, the regular 47 and the Spetz. If you get those, really leave them stock. But, I've seen and heard rave reviews about the ICS; it's another gun you really dont need to touch/upgrade.

never ever ever buy anything G&G

go for ICS.. most realistic, heavy, metal, good motor

if u wanna be safe and keep it stock, get a TM

I say get a TM and upgrade to a full metal and wood body.

or buy a kraken for 180 and upgrade ALL THE PARTS!
Gun-185
KA Metal Body-85
G&P Furniture-80
bad bull.03 Tightbore-30
modify Gear Set(No shim,bushings required)- 80
King Arms 7mm Bearing Reinforced Gearbox V3-80
Pro-win Metal Hopup-35
Madbull Rubber-3.75
Guarder Bearing Spring Guide-20

Total 598.75

All Prices are from Airsoft Parts.ca Exept for the gun, That is from CRAPPY TIRE!!!! Spending 598.76 on a beefed out clone vs spending 650 on a stock tm is insane the kraken is 100 percent compatible, I have ran about 10 thousand rounds through my krakken and not a problem, i have new furniture twist barrel metal body and a nitro rail coming in for it, once that is done there will be no external trace of clone on it. Once thing on that list that is a MUST is the reinforced gearbox, the stock one is monkey metal.
Doing those upgrades should work out to around 350FPS as it is 335 stock

I agree. The ICS is definitely the gun you want.

Albeit, it can't really be modified externally... Woods kits are non-existant, and there are NO folding stocks for 'em. :(

ICS all the way they look good dont break easily and hurt

Coma September 30th, 2007 02:23

Go for the ICS. I bought a TM to start and fully did it up, metal and wood. Now I am regretting the hundreds I spent making it the way it is when I could have bought an ICS or a CA for less and already had most of what I wanted.

BTW kos, you can mod real-steel wood furniture to fit the ICS. Same goes for the folding stocks. Not everything that can go on airsoft AKs needs to be some third party part made specific for that AEG. You can get a nice set of real AK wood for $50 from the States, and after some work with the Dremel it'll fit.

I would just stay with the all metal rifles, You sometimes can find good deals on the classifeds, but the most popular picks I would say are the TM's, ICS, then CA...
Just my 2 cents ;)

Misleading info here bud.

The only guns you need to worry about HAVING to be metal are M4's and various pistols. The stock TM AK is a very solid piece that won't creak or wobble. Stock it shoots far and it shoots reliably and has till recently been my back up gun when ever my custom guns go down.

Of the three I'd go TM ICS then CA. TM for decent price and high quality. ICS for metal body and much nicer feel on the furniture and then lastely CA; stock CA pistons do not stand up to a lot of use and ussually require replacement with in first 5,000 rounds, which doesn't take long with AK highcaps.

I thought people wanted full metal for the look/texture?

Out of the choices you've presented, the ICS is by far the superior unit. i would also consider the VFC AK-74UN, which is another fantastic AK. both are about the same price; the ICS at $320 and the VFC at $325.

Chrios September 30th, 2007 13:21

It actually costs a bit more for them here, Warchild, but I agree with everything else you say.

I personally found myself in this conundrum very recently, and opted for the ICS AK74 for all the reasons outlined above. I have no plans of modding it (unlike my sr15/m16a3/sr16/m4+203...), though I might throw a reflex or RDS on it. If you are interested in getting one, PM stanluo - last I talked to him, he was selling one for a friend.
