Blank Shot.
 

So for some reason, my P90's first shot always comes out as a blank. And sometimes after switching from semi-auto to full auto, it fires off a blank shot as the first. Any reason why this happens? It's only started happening recently.

Mine does this occasionally too. Haven't found the cause yet, I'll let you know if I do.

The BB hasnt entered the hop chamber yet, its the only thing I can think of because my Thompson does that too.

CA G36's have this problem aswell.

I don't think that's the case, because it sometimes blankshots switching from semi to auto, after firing a few shots on auto.

With a full TM locaps for both my MP5s, if the first shots are fired in semi, nothing comes out for a couple shots. If fired in auto, they come out no problem, and semi is no problem after. I'd say it's just a normal glitch that one just takes as normal and ignores it after (while keeping it in mind................ I remember one game that was a loosely based WW2 game, to simulate guns of the time, largely Garands, bolt actions and such, everyone had to use semi only on both the German and the US side. I think only two players on each side was allowed to use full auto in bursts. My point is, in situations like that, I'd load my locaps full, then insert and remove each mag to "depressurize" the mag a bit.)

So, looks like it's a common thing across a few designs by various companies, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Ok, just saw your reply, put a drop of silly oil right down the loading nozzle the mag feeds, then hold it upside down (P90 in your case, right side up) and dry fire it for a few bursts. Should do that every 2000rds or so as regular maintenance (as well as cleaning your barrel). Another thing you should do, maybe once per year, is saturate a mag's worth of BBs in silly oil, then load them into your mag, dump them into a bowl, load again using the same BBs, then dump and move onto the next mag. Mag internals need a bit of oil as well as gun internals (ok, mechbox grease only). I've had a few of my mags misfeed, the above technique fixed them perfectly. And those that had similar problems have had that fix work great too.

Same goes for almost all AEG's I've shot (only have fired 3, maybe 4) including mine.

Huh, I was just thinking about lubing it and the magazines. Haven't done any maintance except for cleaning with a cotton swab and the cleaning rod since I bought this thing almost a year ago.

You know you might have possibly found your answer, eh? Barrel plugging happens when BBs start to have a hard time slipping through the breech to rest up against the hop up nub. If there ins't enough lube (which is nothing more than a very light film) on the nub that sticks in the barrel, the gun would experience overhopping problems.

Just put a drop in there and cycle it, then run a mag or so of BBs through it, see if it helps. (BTW, most AEG manuals tell to put a dose of silicon spray in the magwell every XXXX number of shots fired to keep feeding reliable.)

Yeah, I know. But the instruction manual on the P-90 says something ridiciolus, like 40,000 BBs or something. And while it's possible I've gone through that much, I seriously doubt it.

So could I just cheat and put a drop of oil on the loading hole on the mag, then load it, or drip oil down the loading tube?

Lubed. I fired two lowcaps right after. In fact, I put a little too much oil in. It started dripping out of the hop up gate without me noticing. The first shot on the second low cap was still blank.

Maybe your spring needs to be stretched out a bit or mag needs to be lubed inside? Dunno, but I don't think it's really anything you can do about it except accept it. It's not like you have to fire full auto for 5 seconds until the BBs start to feed.

All the guns I work on feed in semi on the first try with both Stock TM/KA hop up units. Even with STAR/TM mags its fine. I've had blank shots occur but its because the mag wasn't seated properly
