SWISS CHEESE
 

I have searched around, here and else where, and I cant find any guides to the swiss cheese piston mod. I only see "brandxyz polycarbonate piston (swiss cheesed)" in a list of internals. Can someone explain the swiss cheese piston mod? How is it correctly performed? What are the consequences of this mod other than a higher ROF?

yes, do you know how to do that? Are balance and symmetry issues with this mod? What negative consequence should I expect, if any?

Whats the point of doing that??? Does it just lighten the weight, and allow the piston to move forward faster, thus creating higher ROF?

yup, reduces momentum of the piston too but I don't know if its significant. This is a hard mod to track down.

thanks for the link, Ill try to find the author. Someone performed the short stroke mod on that piston too, notice the missing metal teeth.

If anyone else has so more info it would be appreciated.

I was shown this site. they have some interesting results. The swiss cheese mod is also rumored to be best done with a stock TM piston and not with the AREA 1000, Systema Red Poly carb or G&P pistons. I have read removing almost 1/2 the weight is expected and that this is usually performed along with several other mods. Removing the second to last tooth helps but short stroking the piston and sector gear makes the biggest difference. Short stroking standard ratio gears can be more effective than high speed gears if ROF is the main objective.
