64 ruck

i got the cp gear 64 with all the goodies and i am still having trouble rigging it up. which straps are done up in which order and where?

-Skeletor- April 28th, 2007 21:59

For real?

I just put the yoke/shoulder pads an the kidney/hip pad on first... than put on the main bag. Its pretty straight forward, just place the pieces on the spot they'd go an it should click in where the straps go to connect to the frame. An uh.. all the straps go on an get done up tight.

My jump ruck is in my locker at work so I can't take pics, but I'm sure someone here can.

Sgt. Remington April 28th, 2007 22:19

the pads i got (doesn't take a genious) but the bag itself is being a bitch. also i want to be able to use it with my webbing.

Yeoman April 29th, 2007 00:00

my ruck is at work as well.
do you have the jump bag, or the leg bag?
because the jump bag just goes............well on
leg bag, I'd suggest zap strappin it on there.

Lerch April 29th, 2007 01:02

Um..bag..shit if I still had mine I'd get some snaps. But yeah, it should basically line up, the bag hangs from the bottom and there's the two square tabs on each side that you'll probably end up zapping together around the bar. Otherwise it's pretty straight forward.

As for with webbing, it depends how low you wear your webbing, but it may get in the way.

Did you get an actual issued 64 ruck frame, or the repro one form CP gear? And how do you want to use the ruck with your webbing, do you want to wear the webbing and put the ruck over it, or do you want to carry your webbing on your ruck?

Sgt. Remington April 29th, 2007 11:03

it's the repro from cp gear. last night i was fooling around with it and got it to work fairly well higher up on the frame so i can put other gear on the bottom of the frame. i guess there's no set way of how to set them up eh.

Lerch April 29th, 2007 11:35

Actually there is...thats why they had an instructions manual for the Pattern 64 gear. It's just an arse to find it online nowadays.

You put the rucksack/bag on the top? Most people(everyone) tend to put the ruck on the bottem of the frame and have the valice on top..

Lerch April 29th, 2007 13:46

I think he means half way...which confuses me since I don't know how he could, and more importantly, he can't put the valice on properly now.

Goldman April 29th, 2007 13:52

When your say "repro" frame from CP gear. Are they still up to snuff, or are they shit?

Lerch April 29th, 2007 15:20

I was actually under the impression that these are the old issued frames...or atleast the one I got was.

Sgt. Remington April 29th, 2007 17:37

the frame is pretty good, short but strong. already had about 100 pounds on it when i had my '82 ruck on it.

Ibby April 29th, 2007 19:58

You're 16 and carrying 100lbs on a ruck?

Sgt. Remington April 29th, 2007 21:23

yep, i'm still unfortunitly in cadets and we had a remf make a kitlist for the last exercise we had (cic) and it had way too much crap on it. it's not that much weight for me to hump anyway considering my size.
