Eye glasses question
I've seen some snow board eye glasses looks so so similar to the airsoft glasses, and they r strong enough to bunce back bbs also
so the question is can they be used as eye protection glasses in games? |

You need fully enclosed ballistic glasses. There is a rating that is required that I cannot remember |
ANSI Z87.1
It should be stamped right on the lense. It's a rating that is strong enough to withstand a high-FPS airsoft BB. If they have that rating, they are selenite polycarbonate and shatterproof. I've actually seen eye protection labelled as "paintball goggles" without the Z87.1 rating and some pretty disturbing results soon after (although I partially blame any eye protection that has a lense that is completely flat to your face - the projectile has no where to deflect). And don't get something like sunglasses that just have something like an ANSI Z80.3 rating - that's just UV protection or something of the like. It has nothing to do with how strong the lense is. |
There was pictures somewhere on this board before, they take a stock TM AEG and put a BB straight through the lens of snowboarding goggles first shot. If that doesn't speak for its self then you don't belong in this sport.

That's why you always test you're eye wear before you use it, regardless of whatever rating is stamped on it.
That's why I love the CSA. Canada's seemingly anal retentive safety laws make sure that any "safety glasses" you buy are shatter prove and more than sufficient to protect your face. Most Paintball/ski mask type goggles aren't checked out by the CSA. Because they aren't considered "safety eyewear" You really have to be careful with what you buy. The first pair I bought at walmart came with a sticker: "This lense is not rated for repeated impact, after a single impact to the lenses it should be replaced with... blah blah" And I'm supposed to trust my eyes to that? Balistic rated safety glasses, all the way. And at 10 bucks a pair you have NO EXCUSE. |
I Guess there goes another 100ish $ on glasses lol
Thx for the info guys! |

You should check the reg at where you plan to play. Some places ONLY allows for pball goggles, which will set u back 50-80bones. ESS and Bolles are cool, but not always allowed. Some places you can just where safety glasses from the shop. Check before you buy.

cool thx for the info guys

But they don't seal against your face like full goggles so aren't allowed on some fields. Just get a pair of paintball approved goggles and you should be fine anywhere you go.

Just buy some damn Paintball, Bolle x-800, ESS, or other BALLISTIC GOGGLE |
You mean gas masks?
Some are and some aren't. The classic ones you see pictures of everywhere apparently have acrylic lenses and don't offer much protection at all. The Canadian ones though supposedly have polycarb lenses. |
