planning a FAMAS upgrade
 

Please, I need your opinions on my planned TM FAMAS upgrade. The goal is to have it at 350-380fps, doing 1300-1500 rpm. Generally, I'm looking for a FAMAS able to match fps of new "pre-upgraded" CA AEGs, with realistic trigger time when using locaps (real FAMAS empties 25 rounds in 1.4 seconds, so this is where I'd like to go with 40-50 BBS in my locap).

Here's the parts list:

Prometheus 6.03mm 469 mm stainless steel barrel (actually for G3/SG1, but it fits FAMAS fine, being only 3mm shorter). It should make the rifle more accurate, and also giving small fps gain.

Guarder nozzle (actually for M4, M16A2 etc, but it should fit FAMAS with little or no work). Apparently, FAMAS nozzle is not perfect and this should allow for small to moderate fps gain.

Prometheus cylinder - not an essential part. Might need shortening by 1mm, according to some.

Guarder Ver. II cylinder head - to my knowledge, it should work with Ver. I gearbox. Included for better compression, should result in minor fps gain.

Guarder polycarbonate piston head - better compression, minor fps gain.

Guarder polycarbonate reinforced piston - strong and light, should make for minor rpm gain. 2nd and 3rd tooth from rear will be sanded down to avoid premature engagement due to high rpm.

Prometheus MS 110 spring - considerable fps gain.

Guarder steel gearset - standard ratio. Harder gears, also standard ratio instead of high speed ratio, to be able to pull a MS110 spring. Compared to stock gears, this means considerable loss of rpm, which I plan to overcome with 9.6V battery and faster/stronger motor.

Guarder steel shims - necessary with new gears.

Systema 6mm bushings - much better than original plastic TM bushings.

Systema Turbo motor - this is where I'm not sure if I actually need one. Your input is more than welcome. Probably needed for rpm gain. Would Magnum be better ? Or some other motor (Systema Super Torque or another) ?

Bigout H-hop nub - just for kicks, as I have one lying around. Shoud result in minor accuracy gain.

2,5² silicon-wires - low resistance, possibly extremely minor gain in performance (rpm), just for kicks actually.

Capacitor upgrade - not planned for now, maybe some day.

Stabilizing inner barrel inside outer barrel - silicone, layers of paper etc. According to some FAMAS owners, the fit is not so tight, so inner barrel wobbles inside outer barrel. Easily fixable.

Yes. Go with stock.

If you absolutely must upgrade fps, aim for no higher than 350fps. 330fps optimal, and you can achieve that simply with a PDI 130% and metal bushings. (The EG560 Hi-Torque isn't that awesome of a motor.) The longer tightbore inner barrel is nice (I have a 6.03mm x 590mm in mine. :D) as I find it makes for tighter groupings at long range.

PDI makes fitting cylinders for FAMAS.
Choose an other brand. The Guarder one is not good.
Good luck. I found out Guarder Polycarbs being too brittle, especially on temperatures below 15°C.

Had bad luck with them. Stick to Prometheus if you have the money.
You will need to do a lot of modding work on the gearbox to get it working. The Turbo motor is fine for your purposes on stock ratio gears. The stock motor will be fine, too.
Better build a MOSFET switch device. You won't feel any big differences when adding Capacitors.

Interesting - both of you suggested leaving the gun stock. Care to elaborate more why is that ? I'm not strictly against the proposal, just interested in your argumentation.
