G&P M4 Special Operation

Does anyone own or seen/tested this gun?

Ive been thinking of getting one (once the age verification part is done),
was just wondering how the G&P Quality compares to the other big companies.
I've only been able to find 1 review so far, so any information you guys have would be really helpful. Specifically how the motor & gearbox handles, and what Magazines are useful and feed well.

G&P stuff seems to be very high quality, yet still at a reasonable price as far as airsoft goes. I don't think you can go wrong with anything that company makes. I love their stuff!

I have owned plenty of their metal receivers (just bought another a couple weeks ago), own a few vert grips, an aimpoint, a RAS front end kit and a selection of other tid bits. All top notch.

The only thing that I have heard thus far that seems to be lacking is their AR full stock.

I've heard of issues with the tapplet plate. Don't know if this is fixed yet or not.

Ooops, that too :D

LOL!!! I was about to ask the same question as I'm going to buy this gun myself!

I think I'm the only guy in Canada with this gun. I've gamed it twice. Solid little performer. Mine came from ASCA via WGC last summer. It shoots about 330 fps and has their new generation internals and motor.

I did find that the front receiver pin was a little loose and would fall out of the body. I wacked it with a hammer to flare it a bit and it holds just ducky now.

But do yourselves a favour if you buy one and get the correct G&P battery. Trying to make one yourself with the parts they give you is just a waste of time and money. These batteries can be had for around $45 from Illusion or 204 Tactical. I would change the connector on the gun and G&P batteries to actual Dean's connectors. They give you some Asian knock-off and they suck. They are quite loose and not worth my time to fix.

The Aimpoint clone co-witnessed the flip-up sites and were bang on with the bb's once the hop-up was set.

I guess you could say I like it.

I just recived one,I'm sure your talking about the G&P M4SO right? I'v had a few issues with this unit, don't get me wrong I still love it and all but! Like Mcguyver,I to had the problem with the front reciver pin and I replaced it with a Classic Army one(Too much play in the hole.).The little spring that pushes the hop-up against the inner part of the reciver was missing and the Clip that holds the barrel in place in the hop-up was cracked.I noticed alot of play in the inner-barrel as there is no suport at the end of the silencer, this can be fixed thow. But despite all this, the gun chron'd at 367fps. out of the box and after fixing the problems has some nice groupings and power! I'v had this unit for about a week,so time will tell.I was nice to see Ballbearings in the gear-box and a metal nozzel(I think most G&P have them!).Anyway just my 2 cent's (maybe 5!),hope it helps!Oh as for Mag's non of my other Mag's fit from my ICS M4(S.I.R.) or from my Classic Army Seals Compact (ArrG!)

No complaints from me for G&P, I have the SPR/A, and it's one of the best guns I own.

Mongoose December 3rd, 2006 11:07

Death, how did you fix the inner barrel play at the end of the silencer? Only matter is the mag problem. Wonder if TM mags will fit or not. Guess I'll find out.

DJ_Mittens December 3rd, 2006 11:39

I bought one (M4SO, Marines version) a couple days ago. I haven't had a chance to field it, but I bought it because my buddy showed it to me and I was sold. Completely solid body, can't find any play anywhere, and it fires damn well. I haven't chrono'd it yet, but I'm going to in a couple days.

The weird issue I've had so far is the G&P mag that came with it won't click in the receiver; you can with a wee bit of force pull the magazine out. The ten extra King Arms mags don't have this problem, and I'm going to wait for a couple days after oiling them to see if they have any feeding issues. I'll test a few out tonight and let you know.

I do have the correct crane stock battery, but the problem with it is that the battery cord isn't long enough to remove the stock with the battery secured inside. This is a problem when trying to install the battery, as the cables are exactly long enough to remove, with maybe 1mm of clearance. Otherwise you'll get pissed off like me when the battery connection comes undone every time you try to put the stock back on. So I'm upgrading the connectors to better ones and put a little play in the battery cable, and we'll see what happens from there.

Otherwise, this gun is a beauty to hold and fire. Even the trigger weight feels really solid and not toy-like, unlike my two G36s (TM and CA).

I got the g&p m733 and love it. The 68rd and 300rd TM fit no problem. My only complaint is the gearbox was lacking lube, easy fix and learnt how to diassemble and maintain. It's from 007 and is only shooting 290fps but constant. Have deans here but no soldering iron. I've put 25-4000rd bags throught it and no real problems. Mine has a TM eg700 motor which was bit of a surprise.

Death March December 3rd, 2006 13:27

The only way I found too get rid of that play was to wrap some electrical tape around the end of the barrel so it takes up the space between the foam and the inner barrel,it seems Mickey mouse, but theres nothing too attach the barrel too! and I just played with the amount of tape,so it still slid in without fighting with it.As for the motor, this has the G&P 120 high speed, the ones that have the EG700 were the ones from WGC(it's listed on there web-page),for some reason they were switching them. The wires in the cranestock I found were too long in mine. All three of my M4's have cranestocks(two of them are G&P Cranestocks, the other is Classic Army and there are not able to use the same batterys from G&P to the Classic style). We tryed some T.M. low-cap mag's and there was no luck there as far as my unit goes.I'v yet to find another Mag. to fit this Gun,but if anybody knows of any Pls. let me know!

DJ_Mittens December 3rd, 2006 13:43

King Arms, as I said earlier. I'm going to try some TM and CA when I get the chance, but they all look the same to me.

Death March December 3rd, 2006 13:48

One thing I forgot to mention was when I ordered this unit,it was ordered as the Bulldog model 297 and thats whats on the box,but it was the M4SO that was in the box Hmmm! The only difference between the two is the Paint and I had waited awhile for this unit to come through,eh! It's the same gun!But it does seem alittle odd.The Classic Army does not fit,it does't even trip the Mag. catch!I'll have to try and find some of thoes King Arms Mag.'s,Thanks!

is the aimpoint in the picture above removable?
