KSC Metal Slides... HELP!
Hi! I'm looking to buy a metal slide & barrel for my KSC G19. I’m stumped with all the different brands…. Which would you recommend?
Which has the best finish, full trades, and ease of installation? Thanks |
If you can afford it, Shooter's Design . If not the KSC brand metal slide/barrel does the job.

The generic Taiwan ones are really good and easy to install. No matter what avoid G&G like the plague, I have one and it just plain doesn't work, period. I had to go out and buy a no-name Taiwan one and its a dream, installed no problem, no grinding or filing, cycles perfectly (enhanced recoil rod but works with the stock one, just slower), full trades painted white and wonderful sound and weight.

The only problem with shooter's design ones are that you can't seem to find them in stock anywhere....
I got the TW one as well, no issue at all. |
If you're adept at modifications, the G&G one has a great finish and solid fit. It rattles on the frame less than the Taiwan version.
But if you're looking for a drop-in fit, you can't go wrong with the generic HK/Taiwan make version. Pretty much works right out of the box. |
Does the G&G have full trades? What modifications are needed?

the Taiwan kits are great. i have a temporary kit for my USP .45 and absolutely no problems at all, just a perfect and easy swap. of course, i'll rip it off once my SD kit comes in January

Just some minor filing and sanding/polished are required on contact points. One of the chamber's edges and surrounding corners has an angle that's a bit too acute, so once that's filed down a bit and polished, slide action against it is super slick like liquid snot on a teflon frying pan. Overall, the work is nothing compared to some other kits I've worked on for other guns. I tend to work down every metal slide I install anyways, including a polishing of the rails and the underside of the slide to ensure minimal friction against the chamber and frame. Keeps the paint looking nice for longer too! :D |
Do the shooters design slides need any modifications?

The newer SD G19 kits are straight swap... (http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper..._srch_shooters)
they come with secured front and rear sights too. The stock sights are way too easy to lose. |
The black ones from the SD needed quite a bit of sanding that was extremely disappointing (still doesnt work as smoothly as it should be like the silver one)... The silver one though was a straight swap (both never versions of the SD)...
