Using Loctite on Airsoft guns....
 

Is it a problem? Specifically I am talking about the little countersunk screw on the slide of the KSC Glock 19, one above the hammer mechanism and underneath the underside of the rear sight. I've noticed that it comes loose periodically, and since its a flat top phillips head and I've know them to be easily stripped(all countersunk bolts alike, small allen ones also). I am wondering if I use some low strength loctite thread retaining compound would it be an issue? Also anyone know what size screw this is?

not sure on the size but I used loctite on that screw on all three of my ksc glocks. I have had no problems with it yet.

Same here but I used what is called "thread lock" not on the treads but on the screw head just so it isnt imposible to take apart.

is it true you can do the same thing using black nail polish instead of locklite or is it just a myth?

Nailpolish will work, but in order to completely get it off you need acetone. Acetone + ABS = teh suq.

use "Thread Locker Blue 242" from Loctite available at Crappy Tire.
It is removable and does the job.

i dont think it should harm the plastic becuase its made out of a synthetic resin

You can also use teflon tape or the paste.

I had the same problem with my 18c and I used some blue threadlocker on it. Hasn't caused trouble since.

Just make sure you use the stuff that prevents vibration but is still removable with hand tools in case you ever have to disassemble the slide.

I used blue Permatex thread lock on my MP5 SD5 body. I had a bit of trouble getting the screws out after. I would make sure not to use the permanent strength. I work at Lordco and we sell a penetrating strength thread lock tite from Permatex which works its way into the threads without having to loosen the screws. Just a little dab would work.

I've used blue Loctite on the Glock slide screw and that little bastard STILL comes loose. I'm thinking of using the Red Loctite of Death next time.

Gryphon put some teflon tape in then thread lock.

Make sure or at least try to clean out any silicon oil out of the hole/screw before using thread lock.

Wipe off excess thread lock right away. It has a nasty habbit of pealing the pain it touches.
