CA M15A4 Rifle - Shooting Terribly

Alright, here's the deal, I've got a stock CA M15A4, and it shoots BAD. I've got bets it's something to do with the hopup bucking, but I wanted to get some others' opinions.

At about 85% hopup, my gun won't shoot more then 30 feet, and then the bbs drop like little rocks. Anything less then 85, and I can barely shoot 20 feet. It's horrible.

I'm getting owned guys. You know how I can fix this!

have you tried lubing up and cleaning your barrel? Also what size battery are you using?

Goldman November 23rd, 2006 03:28

If the mechbox is turning over, the battery shouln't be an issue. It is the spring that controls FPS, not the battery. It also is not likley to slip while trying to wind up unless his anti-reversal latch is MIA.

Have you checked your barrel? As well as your hop? have you tried firing the AEG without a hop up unit on it? Does the Nozzle move correctly? How does the AEG sound when it fires? What ammo are you using?

In the end, you'll want to find a local gun-tech and get him to take a look at it, as internet diagnoses are rather hard.

Good luck.

check to see if that little rubber nib thing is in there on top of the bucking that the arm on the hop up pushes on. My M15 didn't have one, so our local gun doctor made one and now it hits way out there. And just for the record, this is the second CA rifle that i've bought that didn't have one of those little nib things.

Might be a bit tough to Find a gun tech in Sault Ste. Nowhere.

Ammo? I use alot of "Steath" brand .20. I did put quite a few clips of some sort of unknown .20 bbs. Someone told me to use them, and they're fine. I'm thinking they may have been the culprit, but I don't see how, other than having them erode my bucking.

Also, I have never taken my AEG apart before, as I don't really know the internals too well. I'm sorta worried if I pop it in half springs 'n crap will come flying out, and I won't be able to put it back together. Anywhere were I can find a good manual on how to check the hopup?

The gun turns over just fine. I'm using a 3300 MAH bat, as well. I've lubed the gun up, it shoots a few more feet, but nothing much extra. But after I lube it, my accuracy goes to hell, and it shoots all over the place.

What velocity is your gun shooting? If you're not getting a good air seal and are shooting 150 fps, that would explain the problem....

Check to see if your piston is warp?sp?. Mine did that when I first got it (a few years ago).

That could be a good reason, my CA M15 has an air leak someplace, as the PDI 140 spring that we put in it is only putting 255fps out the barrel with .25's. We've re-placed the piston and piston head with an all aluminum and re-greased it and still very slow, next up might be the cylinder head and nozzel.

I had the same prob. w/ my ca33e yesterday.Turns out that when I pulled my hop-up apart for shits & giggles, I lost my hop buck(?) and had the same prob. when I reassembled it.Made one from a wire insulation cover cut to correct size, then cut my areosol nib srayer to size and slipped it into the wire casing. REplaced back into the hop-up and problem solved. To see a good diagram of a hop-up, go to WWW.Filipinoairsoft.com to tech support @ high-end A.E.G. / how to rebuild hop-up. Hope this helps.
