Crossman want to get in the big league

I was checking for new pellet rifle when I found this

http://www.crosman.com/site/listing/1314

I don't know for you, but if they think they going to make it in the big league with that, I think they are crazy.

Droc July 16th, 2006 19:34

bah, dont give it the time of day
aincent repost BTW :)

Dark-Angel July 16th, 2006 19:36

i agree, looks like some thing i would find in my toilet :P

Aren't most of the crosman guns just rebranded WELL guns? I could have sworn... give a picture by picture look at their M4 springer... Or was it UTG or CYMA?

thephenom July 16th, 2006 20:33

I doubt they'll make it to the big league with TM, CA, ICS, etc. From the looks, it's gonna stick around to play with the bottom dwellers of airsoft like CYMA, Well, UTG, etc.

Debber July 16th, 2006 20:37

The only thing it will do is flood the market with cheap quality AEG's.
Which is all fine and dandy. Crosman will be the ones dealing with the warrenty issues and repairs.
LOTS of these things break. The are definately NOT made to last.
I'll stick with my G&P.
:-D

Lisa July 16th, 2006 20:37

it will probably do well, specially in the american market.

but if it really does 325fps out of the box and holds up as well as a tm gun can you really laugh?

Mustang019 July 16th, 2006 20:48

Yeah, but as I know crosman, their customers services are shit.

Captain Tenneal July 16th, 2006 21:47

325 fps.. Keep in mind 90% of those softair guns are chronied with .12's... So take everything with a grain of salt.

Majority of the clear stuff coming into Canada is rebranded HFC stuff (Pistols at least) Leapers UTG is already in the United States so they don't need to be remade again :D As far as their bigger rifles and LPEG's, I don't know where they get them from.

These are already in Canada but in clear format. A local store sells these things. They all look and feel like crap. Personally a few people devote themselves and think they are the bomb at the local CQB joint, nevertheless most people just shake their heads at it and plink with them for shits and giggles.

My friend bought one and spray painted it black, fired about 50 BB's at some cans, when the retention pin for the spring broke. the pin is about half the thickness of a paper clip, so he drills a hole, and inserts part of an actual paper clip into the spring mechanism.

Still works to this day.

That tells all about quality, when a Paper Clip outperforms a factory part, doesnt it?
Just on that information, I would not even think of thinking of having a delusion about those guns.

The spring flew of my SP-M203 years back and I replaced it with the 1 cent spring from a pen, worked better overall and held the tube more snuggly in than the factory spring did. The origional part wasn't so great, but sometimes things happen and aftermarket ingenuity makes something better. Does that mean that the original product was bad, no.. it just means it could be better with a bit of thinking.

I'm not defending crossman, but I think that your logic is very skewed sometimes.

Greylocks July 17th, 2006 10:39

If a company is not capable of producing something that is stronger than a paperclip, or better quality than a normal spring from a pen in the first place...

I dont think it's a skewed logic to avoid the product, it becomes common sense. What is skewed is their engineering department.

What can we learn from this? Simple. If it's stupid but it works, then it isn't stupid.

However, I do understand the reasing behind your comment Greylocks. It's the same as the CYMA paint issue. Replacing parts pretty much out of the box, or shortly thereafter, should not have to be done. On anything.

On the flip side of that coin, to agree with penguin. Sometimes improvisation with non-original parts can make something better.

It doesn't matter, becasue the Crosman "Soft Air" crap is exactly that. Crap. Give me a TM any day.
