Piston Head

I was just wondering what's the difference between the different types of piston heads on the market such as synthetic(Duracon, Teflon) and metallic(Aluminum, Stainless Steel). In which case would you use one of the synthetic ones as opposed to a metallic one (Vice versa)? And what are the performance gains?

Thanks.

To sum it up, synthetic heads absorb more impact and provide more gearbox durability. Metal ones are harsher on the gearbox but provide a slightly louder sound on each shot.

No need to worry about the durability of the piston head itself. It's extremely rare to see a piston head break.

Read the link that thephenom provided to see more details as well as some specialty piston head options such as hard recoil and silent head sets.
