HSGI Warlord V2 / TAG Chest Rig - Sidearm Solutions
I'm looking at grabbing a TAG Chest rig in OD, http://www.oneshottactical.com/merch...tegory_Code=CR, but I'm not sure how I'm going to carry my sidearm. I'm not a big fan of web belts, so does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks, Brent Also, seeing how the chest rig fits 3 M16 mags, it should be able to do 2 G36 no problem eh? |
It'll fit 2 G36 if you clip them together and then cut off the outside tabs off each mag.
You could always get a leg-mounted holster. If your sidearm is small enough, it'll fit in one of the far side pouches - not going to be fast to draw though. |
I do have an Eagle drop leg holster, but wouldn't the high-riding chest rig belt be too high for the drop leg to attached to?
|
Not really, they are chest rigs, not bibs. When adjusted properly, the belt when attached to the loops will sit around your waist.

The chest rig and your belt would be completely seperate. Personally, I'd advise against this chest rig for the sole reason that there is zero modularity. Get a TT Mav, and mount a MOLLE holster: http://www.tacticaltailor.com/images...holster_sm.jpg on http://www.tacticaltailor.com/images...v1_body_md.jpg You don't have many other options available to you (item-type wise - there are plenty of other manufacturers). |
Well, I did look at the MAV as an option, but turned away from it as the shoulder straps have no padding in them. When loaded down with mags, NVG's, and a bit of food, I can imagine that it would be uncomfortable to wear for any length of time without body armour. Besides, I've never been much or a modular kind of guy, so the fact that it's not, doesn't bother me at all.
So Goldman, if I'm reading right, I should be able to wear a padded patrol belt with the rig and run with a drop-leg holster - if it's adjusted properly? |
Get an X-harness for the MAV if you want padding.
You can always wear a belt with almost anything. |
I used to have an Uncle Mike's inside-the-belt holster that I used to carry a sidearm on a chest rig. Any brand of holster should work though. I had to rig up some sort of retention strap to keep the pistol inside the holster. It stayed in place pretty decently, although with a lot of crawling sometimes the holster would be very close to unclipping from the chest rig.
Got the idea from this website: http://www.savvysurvivor.com/tactical_vests.htm Scroll down the page a bit and there's a picture of a guy in a chest rig with an indie-the-belt holster clipped on. |
Expanding on the above thread: How is the HSGI Warlord V2 in hot weather? Is it brutal to wear as a rig all day?
|
Just got back from Pet. and to answer a few questions:
The TAG "Rifleman" chest rig has a holster/pouch behind the left C9 drum pouch so in a pinch you don't need a D/L holster. The belt and chest rig would be worn seperately as there is no need to attach them. The padded patrol belts are great for drop leg rigs, Or just a plain riggers belt or plain belt. Both the Warlord and the TAG chest rigs are the most popular with my CF customers right now for overseas. No problem on wearing them all day in hot weather. A few of us also shot matches these last two Sat. wearing TAG RBAV, Warlords, Wee/Wasatches and various vests. When it's hot it doesn't matter what you wear!! |
Shot you an email there Farmboy.
