A Question about Wiring

Exhibit A:

So how do I go about scoring some sweet wiring like the one in the image? one that is the right overall goodness for airsoft use, but stil springing so it retarcts into the buffer tube cleanly?

I tried the same idea using 12v coiled cigarette lighter extension cord. Unfortunately the cord was incapable of providing enough current draw and could barely move the motor. Admitely I was using a 3 foot section as an external battery connection so length coupled with the thin cord could have limited the ability. So, just a heads up that coiled cord for lighter extensions probably just isn't enough. Perhaps you can find some heavier thicker cord than I was able to.

You can make yourself real easy. Instead of using a fine-strand wire like what's normally used in AEG's, use a wire with thicker stranding, something like TEW or even the general "hook-up" wire they sell at Crappy Tire. You can see in the pic that they did a wire change from the silicone wiring to something thicker.

Take the conductors side-by-side and wrap them tightly around the shaft of a screwdriver or similar device for 10 or so wraps and VOILA!!

We do that all the time for some control wiring on moving equipment to allow for some play (like in the buffer tube) but not have a jumbled mess of wiring. Works like a charm.

Nice tip Richard Dean Anderson :P just did some wire mods to my M4, wrapped up some wire in neat coils, good spring action, makes it alot neater in my front hand grip. Works good! thanks mcguyver
