Question about positive feedback
I was wondering where I should post this, and the recent question about negative feedback answered that question for me.
Is it appropriate to leave feedback for a user for a transaction that didn't end up going through because of something outstanding that they did to keep a buyer/seller informed. My example: I was recently going to buy some parts from a user, and we had exchanged information and I was fully prepared to DD the money to his bank account. Between exchanging information and me telling him I'd make the deposit immediately he made a point of informing me that the quality of the parts he was selling may have changed for the worse in order to keep me from paying him before we had worked out anything that needed to be changed in the transaction (lowered price, change in parts, whatever). I didn't end up buying the parts, because what I specifically needed from them was no longer usable, but I feel that he deserves the rating, not to mention that feedback would reflect the effort he puts into being honest, and on-the-ball for future buyers/sellers dealing with him. Is it appropriate in cases like this to leave feedback? Thanks |
In my opinion, no. I believe the feeback rating should only reflect satisfaction/disatisfaction with a fully completed sale.
Having said that, I think there are other ways that you could reward the seller, like dropping his name when someone is looking for stuff he/she retails, or just by simple post in the Off Topic area declaring that you were happily surprised by the customer service, even tho you did not buy. My 2 Cents CDN |
Incomplete deal = No feedback
Good deal completed = Positive feedback So so deal completed = Neutral feedback Bad deal completed = Negative feedback Flaking buyer or seller (although annoying) = Incomplete deal Mutual annulment of deal = Incomplete deal |
Ratings should only be given if a transaction has been completed IMO.
|
Yes only if a transaction is completed. For the people that give negative for flakers, I believe that is not right.

Thanks for the input.
My understanding of trader rating was indeed as you've all offered, for complete deals only; the reason I asked is because my understanding of the point of trader ratings is to give potential buyers/sellers an idea of a user's ethics in trade terms, so questions like this come up. |
Also, Is it acceptable to leave feedback for a buyer / seller for each transaction? As in... I purchased from Illusion twice so can I leave feedback for each timeor is that frowned on?
|
Yes, you can leave it twice. The system only counts one per seller/buyer towards your overall rating, but the rest are still visible in the detailed list of feedbacks...
