Importing RC airsoft tanks
 

Hello everybody,

I am planning on grabbing one of these babies http://www.vstankusa.com/ from an ebay dealer south of the border. Does anyone know if it is likely Canada customs will seize the package due to the fact it has a built in airsoft gun, or is it a safe call. I searched the forums but there is no info on importing toys of this nature. That tank makes one hell of a display piece and I would despise loosing it over an uneducated decision.

Since you can find those at Radio Shack (or whatever they call themselves now), I highly doubt that Customs will even blink at the fact that they can fire BBs. It'd be the equivilant of them seizing a Transformers toy because it has rocket-fists.

I can't even see anything on that website that says it fires BBs.

They shoot infrared beams at each other. No bbs or any other projectiles are shot from that tank. It would be awesome to have a tank war like that, wouldnt mind purchasing one myself.

I doubt this will go through any type of seizure its like a remote control to car but in a body of a tank, with awesome specs.

i dont think it does.. in the demo video and under "product line up" it says that they use infrared to "shoot" each other.. thats all..

about the original question.. according to what i've been reading.. yes u can import them.. because replicas and realistic looking airsoft r.. r.. (ok the sleeping pill is kicking in.. u get the point)

airsoft guns get siezed because they are replica guns, if the tank was 1:1 you might have a little more explaining to do, but as it is there shouldnt be a problem

Yeah actually there are a couple variations, one model has the infrared port but the tank i was refering to apparently shoots 6mm BB's up to 25m instead of the laser. They go for like $100 on ebay. Take a look at this http://www.vstank.com/compare/

There's a local hobby shop I frequent for all my hobby model needs and such. He's kept one or two of these above in stock. Right now he has a Tiger II and a Sherman. They do fire BB's, or so it says on the box when I read it at the store. I went for the $25 ones he had before though. They're hand sized and use infared sensors and such to tell when they're hit and they shake when they get blown up and then you got to wait for a timer to go out to get back in the game. It lets up to four tanks interact but gets mixed signals when you get more in there. Overall fun is pretty good.


Though the larger ones are more fun for looking more acurate.....

I've drooled over Tamiya's 1/16 scale RC tanks for a long time.

At 530mm and over a grand American, they are definitly not for the faint hearted. I just need to convince a bunch of friends to get them, equip them with Tamiya's IR battle system and go at it.
