Russian boots

I am looking to get a set of Russian combat boots to go with my new kit and I was wondering if anyone here has had some experience with any form of Russian boot? How was the fit? Are they tight fitting for their stated size? Are they narrow?

Any comments would be welcome, thx,
Devon

If you really want to look like a real russian soldier than get a pair of running shoes :)Regular troops get black leather boots which are around 16-18'' tall, trust me, you don't really want to wear those things :)
Russians don't have anything like issue combat boots, from what I remember it's "go buy/wear whatever you like" when it comes to any combat units. Sometimes they even have sponsors buy high end western gear for special ops units. I'll ask a friend of mine what him and other people he was with used to wear during their trips to Kavkaz. I'll let you know.

Take a look at those links, especially at "voentorg" site which is biggest army surplus network in Russia. As you can see they don't sell russian made boots at all, mostly american stuff.

I have a set of the standard issue boots. Very uncomftorble. They fit like any standard boot but are made not exactly to the same standards as western boots.
They look good for pictures but in the field you'll get blisters pretty quick (As I found out)
Perhaps with a good breaking in and good socks they would make a decent field boot but like 666 says most troops will wear what they can afford.

Dave, socks are certain death with those high boots, soldiers back home wear these things http://www.vecherka.net/tyumen/2005_8/image/07_2.jpg

I don't know English word for that. Not sure it even exsists  but that's the only way to avoid getting blisters. Thing looks like a towel but it's actually not. It's made specifically to be worn with army boots.

Wow... those look like socks that haven't been stitched together... Well, I think for now I am going to get a pair of CF Gore-tex boots and I'll buy a pair to work-in on the side (i.e. piss on, use leather conditioner and just wear them :P)

Thanks guys,
Devon

But anyways gravetech, id take his advice... ive worn those befre. In my opinion, they werent as comfortable as socks (been told i jsut had a bad pair) but it was still a lot better then blisters.
