40 mike dealy-o

so ive been looking at 40 mike geandes, seems like alot of fields have banned these...

im kinda lost as to 100% why, i get its a crazy laser beam stream at 240 fps, but..isnt this still legal based on fps limits joule limits?

understanding as well honorable play with roughly 30 ft minimum engagment.

are these really that serious to hurt people so bad?

( i ask as ive never used them and have been offered a crazy deal for 8 of these)

Schoolboy October 15th, 2018 08:00

I made a blog post about it some time ago.
I own and run two myself, and find them very user friendly, and an engagement at 40ft with .20gs is not all that bad. They sound worse than they really are, but keep in mind using one at 30ft and under is going to be painful if not interpreted as malicious at best.

Take a look maybe what I've found results wise might help you make a decision.

people think they're spooky.

RainyEyes October 15th, 2018 10:25

In a nutshell: in cqb fields they're considered full-auto which is a no-no for insurance companies.

For all others: they're spooky

So really, aside from being under 30ft or you just disrespect everyone... These are just a mental (brain) scare.
Seems like mainly an outdoor application only. Hmm

pestobanana October 15th, 2018 16:39

In application its no different from other airsoft grenade shells except it has a higher FPS and tighter spread. Technically, the 40 Mike has a lower rate of fire than other shells, it just all comes out of one barrel. But you know, people like to whine and bitch, and join in on the whining and bitching train.

Probably because some people are really dumb and trying to use them in CQB. All of AI's official videos show it as a mid-range blanket-of-BBs type thing. But as usual, tryhards would rather use them point-blank against 14 year-olds to drum up youtube views. So they get banned on the off chance that Moron McGee is lurking around.

I've heard them brought up at three events this summer, and used in at least two. Fortunately I haven't been on the receiving end yet.

Field admins/game control are treating them as automatic fire, which I think is fair. For most fields, that means using indoors/for CQB is verboten, but outdoors they can be used in the same way that full-auto fire can be used.

Given rate of fire, I'd a little ticked off if I got sprayed at 5-10' or less, but I wouldn't mind past that.

It's a pretty cool BB-delivery system, but like any tool, it can be abused. I guess game play this year and next year will be the crucible.

i would not play at a field that allows the use of these, but does not allow auto for rifles.
why?
these shoot up to 150 bbs in less than a second. if i am not allowed to return fire at the shooter with my 25-30rps rifle, then i will be taking my business elsewhere.

AI actually did all their testing and the first demo video at an indoor field called siege Airsoft which as it turns out also has banned them from being used .
