Real Rail on an Airsoft Gun??

So, as with many airsoft guns, my airsoft gun has airsoft receiver threads (big surprise!). However, there aren't very many airsoft M-Lok rails out there that look decent. One real AR15 M-Lok rail caught my eye and I need it now, however I know it isn't going to fit. So, my question is, is there anyway to cut the barrel nut on the real handguard to apply to my receiver? Like a tap of sorts? Thanks for the help!

What rail are you looking at? I've got real M-LOK rails on both of my airsoft VFC ARs and they both fit perfectly fine...

Most AEGs use metric threading, which will not fit. Most GBBRs use imperial threading, which will fit.

VFC uses imperial, which will fit.

G&P uses some weird in between shit that sometimes works.

I’m looking at a Strike Industries rail, but don’t have a VFC M4, only a VFC PDW lol. My M4 is a G&P with metric threads

Thanks for the info... I have a G&P, but has Marui Metric Threads. Was possibly looking at this tap (https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-t...-636-2689.aspx). It’s a 1.25” 18 tpi tap which would roughly align with the Madbull Die for AEG’s which is M31.8 x 1.5, maybe this may work to modify the barrel nut?

Unless your barrel nut has no flange to hold the barrel in, you won’t have luck running a tap into it, unless you want to cut the tap to make a very close bottom cutting tap.

You might have easier luck having someone make a new barrel nut for your aeg application.

Alas, may be correct. You possibly know someone who’d do this, or should I just ask the company to see if they know anyone?

https://www.strikeindustries.com/sho...arrel-nut.html Here is the barrel but for the rail, pretty sure. Maybe you can possibly see if it would work? If not, I may have to get a VFC...

So it seems company can't make a barrel nut to my specs, obviously, but I think I am going to buy their aluminum barrel nut separately and try a M32x1.5 tap and try to see if it fits (The mad bull receiver is M31.8x1.5, and M32 is closer to M31.8 than M31). Maybe it will, maybe it won't, but it would help others out and I wouldn't void the warranty of the rail by modifying the included barrel nut they supply. I'll update in a couple months when I try this, hopefully it would work. Anybody have any opinions before I buy?

If you're going to re-thread anything, bring it to a machine shop and don't do it yourself. If you do it by hand your shit is going to be crooked.

If you get that aluminum one, it could be modded so the other side non threaded is machined to fit the aeg threads. Just not sure how the groove for locking will work out.

Alternatively, you could just buy a G&P or VFC upper with the right threads on it.

Yea, could do that if the threading doesn't work. Unsure how much that would be though or where to even get one for a decent price. But, the tap was like $35 shipped, so I'll try that. Maybe it will work

If I can find one locally, I will. Unsure if there is any that would be willing where I live, may just have to look. Re threaded the upper on a receiver a few years back and that worked, but would definitely probably be better done by a professional as you say!

A hammer and some staples and you’re gold
