Thoughts on painting guns?

I'm looking to spray paint my gun (krylon) to better blend in. But I'm not quite sure yet. Your thoughts?

Priority 1: replace gun parts with colours you want instead of painting. This will typically give it a better look than paint. Pair this with a small ghillie if needed

Priority 2: If you’re dead set on painting, strip your gun down to parts, tape properly and only paint the parts you want painted, avoiding small or mechanical parts. Pick a pattern you like and lay down several coats.

Priority 3: you’re in a hurry, so paint it so that it doesn’t look like a big black blob. You’ll regret it forever, but take solace in the fact that no one will buy you gun and if they do, they will curse your name as they try and strip the shitty paint job off of it.

Krylon works great and weathers easily, if you ever plan on selling your gun and want top dollar or least a fair price don't paint it.

Do it - breaks up the outline during the day and reduces the shine of certain materials tremendously under nightvision. IMO looks good too but that is obviously personal preference. Has not materially affected resale value for me personally.

Just keep in mind that if it comes time to sell. A painted gun will never bring in the price of a compatible gun that is not painted. On that note. Has anyone tried using plastidip as a non permanent pain solution?

I typically like the look of painted guns. Of course some look better than others and some are just fugly, it's all subjective of course. As far as resale (which may or may not factor into your consideration), I don't think it'll hurt the value as much as it will limit your potential clientele.

I've never had an issue selling a painted blaster

Painted guns are awesome, especially if you make them look like below:

WELL painted guns look good. If you're doing it for the first time or are not skilled in painting it will definitely influence a person's decision. So it would be best to get it done by a pro or have it powder coated, anodized, w.e. for the best look and resale value.

Practice on a piece of wood with different patterns and layering techniques. Lots of youtube videos with how-to's.

Painted guns are best. Especially if they are painted like real military rifles and not like a kid toy seen in a video game.

Properly worn paint add value. (sentimental at least.)

I just paint my gun. I don’t tend to paint everything separate. It will look off if you’re doing a pattern. Also prevents from build up and reassembly issues.

I haven't tried painting my stuff but I like the idea. Would anyone know if plasti dip works so it's easy to take off?

Plastidip should peel right off but I don’t think you’ll get the texture and dusting unless you’re just going for a solid colour. And than I don’t think there are camo colours in plasti dip. I may be wrong though.
