where to put your flag?
Simple question?, I ask
It is a curiosity at this point but will definitely affect my decision. After getting a new helmet, I have to transfer my two flag, one Canada and one my first nationality, to evolving kit. I originally had my flags on my helmet, Canada on the right, and the other one on the left. Now I am curious to know what is the proper or preferred placement of flags. Does it matter what goes on right or left? |
You aren’t a soldier (I’m assuming), so there are no rules or etiquette for flag placement. I’ve had them on my shoulders, front, back, hat, etc.

Mine tend to bounce around a fair bit, or come off entirely as they’re IR and I don’t like being a human glow stick. The only one I tend to keep is an IR Maple Leaf on the right side of my helmet. Currently I also have a CF IFF patch on my left shoulder with a small IR maple leaf under it on my PCU jacket.
I wouldn’t mind a good looking non-IR maple leaf patch, above a non-IR USA flag on my carrier. |

Some special forces units will put IFF flags on their helmets, usually of the IR reflective type.
But for airsoft you can really put your flag patches anywhere. I personally have IR flag patches on both shoulders, as well as IR flag patches on the bag of my plate carrier and helmet. All of these are mainly used for IFF at night. I also have one regular flag patch on the front of my plate carrier. |
For IFF purpose, I would put it on helmet or shoulders. For fun purpose, wherever you got velcro.
