fixed leaky mag, now gun jams :(
 

I had hi-capa mags that were leaking. So I fixed them using blue gasket maker :)

After waiting 24 hours, it was all fun and game, they all kept pressure and my pistol was shooting smoothly.

The second day is when problems started with sudden gas release and dry fires even though bbs where there. when I opened up the slide, the entire inside was blue. Somehow blue gasket got into the GUN. !!! I can easily remove it but it is everywhere.

If I open up the hi-capa and remove the blue stuff, Will it fix this? What did I do wrong? Did I not wait long enough? did I put too much? or used the wrong type of blue gasket maker? Has someone else ran into this issue too?

any ideas?

What blue goo did you use? If you used hylomar it never sets. It's good if you lightly coat gaskets/orings with it. Too much though and the propane will act as a solvent and spread it everywhere.

Found your problem.

DO YOU WANT SILLY STRING COMING OUT OF YOUR HI-CAPA? BECAUSE THATS HOW YOU GET BLUE SILLY STRING SHOOTING OUT OF YOUR HI-CAPA.

Use the black gasket make it is oil resistant and will not turn into silly string. Your gun broke because you:
A. Didn't let it cure long enough
B. Didn't fill up a full mag of gas and release it to unleash the smurf jizz that will otherwise have gunk up your gun.
C. Used blue instead of black. Always go black never go back because the silicone oil in green gas and your AI propane adapter will dissolve the blue gasket maker over time. Black is more resistant and permanent.

Sauce: personal experience after releasing a blue sealant mag and leaving my washroom looking like smurfette in a snuggle film.

Basically, you used the wrong type of sealant

Blue sealant is fine so long as he cycles the gas inside the mag and doesn't over do it with the silicone oil. The proper steps to prep the mag is to:
Clean mag of oil residue
Apply sealant
Close
Wait 24 hours
Put 1 second of gas in mag to achieve tolerances
Wait 48 hours
Fill gas to Max capacity
Take outside
Press down release valve and release all the gas/sealant
Repeat until no more blue comes out

The mag shouldn't leak anymore even after releasing all the loose sealant but this is just a hassle with blue sealant versus black.

I used what the tutorial said, I basically went to canadian tire and bought the exact same item.

With the looks of it, I have to retry them now. Will I be able to use other similar solvent to get rid of the blue glu out of the gun itself?

If I use black, can I still take it apart in future?

In theory yes in practice no. Once you put it on it generally never leaks. There hasn't been a lot of reason to disassemble it in general. This stuff is meant for cars however so I believe you can disassemble it but it will be insanely difficult.

The same can be said about blue sealant.

The "ultra grey" by permatex is actually rated for the highest pressue if you compare all the data sheets. It also takes up to a week to reach full strength because there is not much oxygen in the mags to aid in curing. You can get the stuff off, its just a pain in the ass as you will soon discover.

You waited 24h before trying to fill with gas? Because it seems like you didn't.

What I do is also remove the release valve to let it air out/dry out better during that 24h period.

I've taken a black gasketmaker mag apart. It's not super difficult, but I also didn't slather it everywhere. The issue is not that it seals too tightly or is too thick/firm. It's the fact that you have nothing to give you enough grip to pull the lower half apart. Some mags are easier than others to pull apart, but yes, generally when done right, you never have to open it again.
