Classifieds Clean Up

Attention everyone who has an active ad in any of the Classified sections. In the first week of the new year, I will be archiving any and all ads that have not been maintained for at least 3 months. That means, coming in January 2017, if you have not bumped you ad since October 2016, it's gone, active or not. I cleaned up the ads the beginning of this year and there were active (as in no "banana" posted in the ad) going back to 2012. I feel going back to October is generous. I should be nuking anything older than December.

No ad is deleted. They are all archived in a section that is viewable but no posting can be done. This is why there's a rule about no deleting prices. Archives are used by future buyers and sellers to use as a reference. Also, adding the word "banana" to your original post (as opposed to bumping with it) allows me to very quickly and easily archive completed threads. I've been very lenient about people just posting "SPF" or "Sold" instead of "banana" but I will be infracting you if it continues into the new year. It makes maintaining the classified a hell of a lot harder to do if you don't follow the established rules.

Is it possibe that we could have titles reflect what's actually for sale?

I hate "joeblow69's gear sale" or "great aegs"

I'm just opinion but it's a thought.

That's up to the individual seller. Sometimes there's way too much to list or they have a long running sales post, adding things to sell and moving sold items to another post.

Can there be a reminder sent out, that once your item is sold, you don't change the amount the item was sold for to "$old".

People, some even members for 10+ years, seem to forget that rule.

Cheers

It's in the rules in the pinned post in each of the classified sections. Can't/won't read the rules, win an infraction. Do it enough and the system imposes an automatic vacation without admin intervention.

This seems quite fair.

Another thing that I just want to note. When you post "banana", don't replace the price with it. It's really helpful when shopping the classifieds to be able to see past prices.

Ricochet December 5th, 2016 00:42

They're not supposed to.

An annual purge is a great idea.

...The classifieds thing, not the legal crime for one night thingy... Although...

One of my pet peeves is seeing prices or even items erased off posts. Hope to see that trend disappear.

When you see that use the report a post function, they will receive an infraction for doing so.

Bumping this thread, handed out several infractions over the past few days.

5) Try to group similar items together - don't create a series of separate threads. e.g., if you're selling 3 BDUs, list them in the same thread not in 3 different threads. This is mainly for new threads: if you have a previously posted thread with a few bumps, its understandable and tolerated you may want to create a new thread. Perhaps the exception being for small accessories or things like pouches, etc.

Actually, there's no real need to start a new thread if you have an active one. You can just edit the original post to add items, edit the title and move sold items to your first bumped post. I usually let it slide unless you have like five different AEG ads running at the same time. It just clutters things up.

Yeah, pretty much this.
