Replacement mag follower

I was going to fill up one of my Stark Arms/VFC PPQ pistol magazines when I noticed the follower was snapped in half. The follower does not lock down when filling it with BBs so if your thumb slips it slams up into whatever ammo you've loaded which is how I suspect it broke.

I disassembled the mag and tried to glue the parts back together which didn't work which lead me to try and find a replacement part.

I scrounged around pretty much globally and could not find a website that sells the PPQ follower (either out of stock or they don't sell them) however I found other various brands that look similar in shape.

Short of ordering a pile of various followers does anyone here know if using a different brand that looks similar will work?

Do what I did and spend 3 days carving one out of fucking JB weld because it costs 34 dollars to import a 6 dollar part after exchange rate and shipping =_=

It feeds perfectly and doesn't catch. Haven't had any problems so far.

Can you link a pic or something?

Hm, bet I could 3D print those no problem.

Hectic April 28th, 2016 10:17

That's what I was thinking. We need a canadian with a 3D printer who can cheaply (for profit or course) fab up these dumb lil parts that are hard to find and expensive to ship

Might help, but, Stark Arms also goes under "GK Tactical"

Well, I'm Canadian, I am a professional designer by day and already do this sort of thing for the local airsoft, RC, automotive, vaping and astronomy community..

Here's some of the designs I choose to share for free... http://www.thingiverse.com/xzivr/designs

Oh. And not only do I have the printer, I also have a metal lathe, mill and mig welder. Currently building a custom HPA engine for my SR25 using mostly aluminum (and anodizing it) with a delrin nozzle. Next project is a custom lightsaber hilt because the nerd in me is shorting, haha.

Here is a picture of my follower.

I've just tried glueing it together with Bondic as well as filling the cavity on the backside with it in multiple layers to try and strengthen it. My next problem is trying to get the mag to seal properly again, I've lubed up the gasket with silicon oil prior to screwing it together but still get a leak when test filling.

Blue gasket maker, seal it off completely (lower half at least)

cetane April 28th, 2016 12:05

That follower should be able to glue back together with good superglue. I'd use loctite 404

or..

EPOXY!!

I tried 4 different 3d printing labs, all who have quoted $50-$80 CAD just to make it worth their time making it in AutoCAD or something. I'd rather take the free course that is sponsored by the City and print them in public libraries.

If there is a uni student with access to a library's 3d printer that would be the cheapest way. 5cents per minute or something to book it.

That's why I was saying we need an airsofter, someone who would be able to do the design on their own time and sell the part at a reasonable price and then have the design for later use. Obviously the first part would cost a little more but it could be done.Id do it bit I have no idea how to "copy" the part in order for the printer to print it lol.seemes another poster XZIVR may be willing...try asking him.

Use something thicker to seal the mags together, oil is not enough. I would stay away from the gasket maker stuff cause it's a nightmare to open up the mag again if you need to for any reason.

THATS THE PLAN, once it's sealed with gasket, you never open it again, ever. :|} you can still remove the valve though, but should seal 100%
