Best optic for cqb?

What would you consider the best optic for cqb type game, considering weight, price, field of vision, quality, etc

None. I find optics get in the way.

Also, are you talking about the type (rds, holo, short dot, etc) or brand of real steel optics (EOTech, Aimpoint, Holosun, Vortex, etc)?

I personally like red dots with a big field of view (I run a clone SRS). Don't like holographic sights (real or clones); the real holos have a fuzzy reticle (the nature of real holos), and the clones have a very busy reticle that block vision imo.

In CQB I mostly just point in the other guys direction. Long shots across the barn I aim. But 20 feet, point and klick.

IMO, in CQB, you want some sort of reflex sight that has a minimal amount of obstruction surrounding the glass
e.g. EOTech - C-More railway - Sightmark SureShot or UltraShot

All the CQB events I've been too have had quite a bit of dark so some sort of red dot is a good choice.

I like the EOTech type of holosight and the Aimpoint T-1 Micro.

Definitely a red dot sight. I like the NCstar style one, it has a very big open window and there is minimal obstruction to vision from the metal part that holds the glass. At super duper close range, you really dont need a sight, but there will always be engagements from 20+ feet even in CQB arenas that would go much better if you run a rds.

I agree that the reflex sight is the best for indoors as it provides the fastest target acquisition but noticed that they are more susceptible to being shot out from the side you look through compared to a smaller red dot.

This may not be the popular opinion with gear heads however If you don't put a heavy emphasis on aesthetics you can pick-up pretty much any large aperture red dot sight on the cheap (samples below). A larger aperture tends to improve your field of view which you may like at closer ranges. I've used these sorts of optics for the better part of 10 years with great success.

Companies tend to command a premium for sights that mimic premium brands like Aimpoint, EoTech, Trijicon, etc. If aesthetics matter to you, expect to pay anywhere from 50-100% more.

Unless you're going with a 'real steel' firearm quality sight (multiple hundreds to thousands of dollars) they could all crack when taking a direct hit in CQB. You may want to also consider getting one of those plexiglass shields or kill-flash screens to protect the front facing lens if this is a concern for you.

Those NCSTAR clones, you can get them from aliexpress for like $20 cad, think they're like 40-60 here. They work fine for aegs.

I have an NCStar Aimpoint clone with a cantilever, it works great. I've owned, used, handled, and sold lots of their products over the years (as well as a host of other China clones), and they're pretty much the bees knees of fake optics.

Many (if not most) will be fine for real rifles as well, their Achilles heel tends to be that their mounting hardware is weak or wonky (on some models) on anything more than a GBB. Put some blue loctite on there and maybe a paper shim or two. Many are also REALLY sensitive to having huge adjustments made, so do a few clean clicks at a time for longevity.
Since they're not made with awesome glass, they can be very dark when any kind of protective cover is added. A removable mesh killflash is probably better than lexan hard or soft modded IMHO for this reason. I don't even run one because I don't care anymore :)

None of them will make you vomit from sheer beauty and excitement, but they hit the spot for price/ performance. They get a big rubber stamp that says "ACCEPTABLE" with a thumbs-up. They have a good warranty.

Go in somewhere to try before you buy for maximum adequacy.
