Battery getting hot
 

Hi All ! I got an issue on my G&P metal gear box here , so need help from you all .
My problem is after when I open up my gear box to fix the compression problem , after I install them back and do the test found that its get hot very fast on my battery and the motor too , I just do some shoot only mb around 5 to 10 on semi and auto .
May I know why is that happen ?
What I do is to change the oil ring on the piston , cos its completely no compress at all , though that is the oil ring getting hard in shape and also not big enough so I just buy another iol ring put it on , and the oil ring that I buy is a bit bigger size then the original one , but its not too big just a bit bigger that's all , but I did try it using hand to pump it , its get in and out very easily , no need to push hard , so is it still no good for that ?

Is your motor aligned properly?

The heat is from friction. When you take a gearbox apart and a shim jumps out of place if it is put back on the wrong gear it could cause a whole bunch of problems. I would disassemble your gearbox and double check your shimming and motor height adjustment as you said it is not coming from the compression parts.

Is it the stock battery as well?
And yes if you opened up the box and didn't shim it correctly that's the first step.

Yes my motor is aligned in good shape
For the shim I think should be ok , but I am still not sure , maybe need to reopen it out again , tks for the advise .
For the battery is not a stock , due to this gun is my own custom build , so the battery is buy separately , I am using 11.1v lipo stick type battery , so before I open the gear box out , the battery is not that hot , just keep warm only , so no idea why now , but I will open the gear box again .

Hi All ! I did open my gear box and check already , nothing wrong inside , shimming all good and the piston compression a bit tight , is it that one cause the problem ?

Piston compression is A-ok, it has absolutely 0 affect on the battery because the spring is what pushes the piston forward to produce compression, not the gears.

You cannot check for shimming by opening up the gearbox that easily. It is something you hear. When you pull the trigger, the gears should make little to no noise when engaging each other. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKRE9ufkAmQ
Things to do:
bevel to pinion shimming method
GOOD lubrication (do not skip this step because it will make shimming moot)
good quality wiring (low resistance, make sure it is not shorting e.g. exposed wires)

Typically a warm battery means there's too much electricity being drawn from the battery due to too much resistance coming from the gears, or some of being redirected such as from a short.

Lubricate your gears well every 2-3 months if not more frequently if you take your airsoft out for shooting a lot.

Hi ! Thanks for the reply and the video , I will look at it first then see if it is the shimming problem , anyway I am waiting for the new complete cylinder set and the new gear set too , so after all the item come will do another shim for all the new parts , thank you very much :)
